Post injection pain

I've recently started testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), for which I've been prescribed Sustanon.

The first injection (dorsogluteal) was performed by my doctor. Immediately following the injection I had a slight "dead" feeling, which lasted that night and was gone the next day.

Since then, I've been injecting myself in the quads. I've done four injections, the last of which was this morning. The first three of these gave immediate discomfort / "dead" feeling, which diminished fairly quickly that day, only to come back very badly on the following days. I inject Sundays, and on those three occasions, Monday and Tuesday I've had a pronounced limp and pain (a little pain to the touch, but mostly just pain walking / lifting my leg), which is diminishing on Wednesday morning and gone by Wednesday night. Last time it hung around until Thursday though.

This morning I injected again, only to find there's been ZERO post-injection discomfort. This has me wondering whether I've been doing it incorrectly on my previous injections.

You didn't discribe your injection technique, but if I was to guesd the majority of the pain is natural to sticking a needle into your body. You also might have not had the steadiest of hands.

Just follow proper injection protocol and you'll get used to the pain.

Your post has reminded me, I did have a "funny" feeling inside my muscle while I did the first few injections, but not on the last one. I'm now wondering whether I might have been close to a nerve on the other occasions.

Injection technique is pretty straight-forward, though I do one thing differently to what I've read. My doctor told me to gently pinch an area about 1-2 inches either side of where I plan to inject, rather than stretching it out as most places seem to say. This could simply be due to the fact that I'm a pretty small guy, I'm not sure.

I hold the barrel like I would if I were holding a pencil, maybe 1/3 of the way up the barrel and push it in in a "dart-like" fashion at a moderate pace (I don't stab it in quickly, nor do I do it overly slowly). Once in, I aspirate and then inject slowly, taking maybe 15 seconds. After that I leave the needle in for maybe 20 seconds, before carefully pulling the needle out straight. After this, I gently massage the site for a couple of minutes.

What testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) doctor is giving u sust? I want that dr!!!! Mine only gave me 200mg a week of test cyp. I had to go to the darksode for Sustanon (sust). Lol

Discomfort is normal with sust in beginning. Vets on this board talk about the test prop in it is what is causing the discomfort. My buddy was the same on Sustanon (sust). after about 3 weeks his body got used to it

Yeh I think everyones the same I know it's safer to do ass cheek jabs rather than quad only down aide to the ass is it's hard to do it all with one hand cause I can reach around, but I'm the same I found the first several jabs to leave corks for days (test prop and enan) just the way it is

The doctor's actually an idiot heh. He gave me a 12 week course of sust 250 / 1ml per week. I've just spoken to my normal GP though, who's going to keep me on it long term, though likely at a slightly reduced rate. Surprisingly, my GP says she's happy to treat by symptom rather than numbers, because they're "just numbers." She's guessing 250mg every 8 - 10 days at this point though, but we'll see. If she wants to do that I might split it into two injections at 1/2ml.

I'm in Australia, btw, so the original doctor's name probably won't help you much ;-)

I'm planning on switching to test e after I've used up all of the Sustanon (sust), which I understand to be more stable and less painful than sust.

I was just looking into gluteal injections today, thinking I'd get my girlfriend to do it there sometimes, but it sounds a bit trickier than doing it in the quads, so I'm not so sure now.

if its a virgin muscle its going to hurt like a charlie horse the first few pins.. take about 8 hours to feel it.

Yeh mate glutes are tricky I can manage with one hand but if I havent got a mate around I generally just go the quads it's way more practical

Sounds about right. Well, that was my third in the same muscle and today feels more like a Wednesday / Thursday than a Monday in terms of pain. Very manageable this time.

I know my first pin ever hurt for 2 days after. Now it's nothin. I think gluts are better to shoot. Hurts less for me.
