Power lifters input wanted

I am banned!
So about a year ago I posted a thread about opening a gym. Well after time spent looking at spaces and doing du diligence, I had decided to put that plan off. Until now. The Gym I go to now just went up for sale and I'm about to write up a contract to purchase it.

The gym has a separate large 40x20' wood floored open room. They currently use the room for group classes (all that girly shit, yoga , palates etc..) which is not very often.
So I'm going to ditch the classes and turn that room into a full power lifting and hardcore area of the gym. You'll have the main gym with all you need and more mainstream , but then there is a separate area thats closed off that will be all free weights and powerlifting (probably being playing more hardcore music in there, just a totally different decor).

here is my question. what type of powerlifting and equipment would i need and be able to fit in this area that would make it appealing to you to want to join this gym (apart from the 4500sq ft of all the bodybuilding stuff it already has).. I'm talking this currently empty room, what can I put in there to appeal to powerlifters and a different culture of people to join up because of this 'power room'
??

of course the big 3 , bench , dead and squat racks . do I really need a rogue dead lift platform or is padding on the floor cool , do i really need a mono lift ? or just some bad ass power racks ? what about accessory exercises ? different types of bars, trap bar, buffalo bar etc.. ?

The more styff you have ppwer racks deadlift platforms cgains different bars the better..... But i will mention it is gonna be hard to compete especially your area because their is already places like that. The powerlifting gtms that see success are tied to a lifting organization so there is competition and events. You have to give that tyoe of crowd a reason to join or even attract people to want to get into something different.

But we have several power racks platforms for deads boxes for different types of deads. We have yoke bars for swuats 55lb bars plenty chains bands. What i think made my gym i go to succesful is variety they have crossfit next door, strong man equipment, tons of dumbells uo to 150lbs and its a hardcore but very family tyoe atmosphete for the members.

I totally understand wanting to do the powerlifting thing but from a business and profitability standpoint, those classes will yield you more memberships aka revenue than adding a "powerlifting room". Again, I totally understand the idea you have but take it from a guy who has watched a gym fail to watching it grow exponentially. Its all about getting the right instructors and pushing/marketing the classes.

Not knocking the idea by any means, I'm just throwing in my opinion from first hand experience.

well the gym is already established as a mainline 24 hour type fitness facility . changing the culture to an all out powerlifting atmosphere would probably ruin the current customer base. my thought is just to take this big open room thats currently for classes and turn that into a more hardcore powerlifting and free weights area . kinda a gym within a gym . that way we don't have the 600 pound dead lifter grunting yelling and making noise right next to the little old lady doing dumbbell curls with 5's.

the more 'real' powerlifting equipment i could get in there the better then ?

what about accessory work . Lat pull down, military press, just the basics ? of course the gym already has that , but again i kinda want a separate designated power lifting free weight area.

this makes a lot of sense . the current ownership is not making squat$ off of classes right now though , pretty much any $ that comes in is just going to the instructors (while the gym has to cover the space, heat and cool it, overhead , insurance etc.. its not worth it right now). IF classes could be capitalized on way better then what they do now then definitely need to way the options.

the idea about a designate power lifting and free weight room , is over the years I've seen a lot of bigger stronger guys come and go in this gym. Theres just not enough equipment for the stronger guys to go around currently. They end up deciding to drive 20 mins farther and go to Gold's gym and pay double the money instead. I stick to the gym cause its 5 mins from my house and i have 24 hour access.

guess the idea is do i want to bring in and retain people that are in the fitness, strength, and bodybuilding lifestyle . Or do i want to capitalize on people in the area and do classes (way less overhead for classes).

Of course with a power lifting room , you could put on strength and conditioning classes and seminars as well . Get a good strength coach involved and put on a squat, bench, and dead lift clinic . Coach all the high school kids in the area on how to get stronger for sports , things like that

edit: there is a spin room at the gym , filled with spin bikes where they do spin classes. those are always booked. that space yields plenty of revenue per sq foot.
its the big open hard wood floor room that is usually empty , its not yielding crap $ per square foot . thats what I want to monetize, that wasted space

Here is what i did. I offered the local High School students 100 annual memberships. I spoke to HR of 2 huge factories here and offered 1 month free of any classes that we offered. I was allowed to have my flyer added to there paystubs for 1 month. Its all about contracts from there. I had over 100 new faces in the first month. I would venture to say that I kept 40 of them and wrote contracts for them. The added female presence made the gym look like rush hour traffic with the amount of guys that started coming during classes in the evenings lol.

PS: This was 10 years ago

So I'm currently in the due diligence process of buying my gym (i.e. gym i'm a member of) , and have other investments currently going to market to sale .. so I'm planning on moving forward with this thus far.

I've talked to some people at the gym , and the consensus is that a room filled with power lifting equipment , more free weights and a 'dirty cross fit' section (mainly meaning platforms or stations to do olympic weight and snatch and cleans etc.) would be a big perk to the gym.

not sure about adding 'cross fit' , i'm not a fan , but what about the idea of more olympic lifting areas that would appeal to cross fit types , as well as others ??

the closest cross fit gym has very limited hours to be able to solo perform and train , the gym I'm purchasing is a 24/7 facility . so thats a plus

I dont have any input other than awesome man good luck with your gym!!! Oh you know what would be badass, infuse preworkout into the water fountains so everyone is pumped the fuck up haha

good idea, but I'd hate to have to charge $ for drinking fountains ;) its all about capitalizing on your investment man, you gotta monatize things.

my first order of business will be going on a couple nights out to the local strip clubs, and offering free memberships to the hottest women in the club . major ROI with that

As if theres not enough temptation already i am surprised your wifey would suggest that, unless she was kidding. Anyhow seems like you got a keeper there bud, good for you.

Really.... I'm obviously talking about women

well sure ,, i just mean why is that a temptation ? sexy women are meant to be enjoyed , my wife is cool with that , as long as I share them with her on occasions

if i went to a strip club and gave out 20 free memberships ,, and brought two home to the house , she'd be delighted
