Hey,

Where is that picture you had on one of these forums where the person was at the bottom of a complete ASS TO GRASS squat? I want to show that off to people who think going just above parallel is going deep!

When you get time, would appreciate it bud.

i found it on the web some where. you just have to look or see if it still posted here.

the pick i posted was of an olympic lifter so naturally its gonna be a lot deeper than a reg squat because of the bar position. front/overhead as opposed to a back squat.

A true parallel squat is hips parallel to knees correct? Depending on the person they might be going parallel but just not look like it.

i thought a true parallel squat was the top of your leg (quad area) was exactly parallel with the ground. What do i know though? Obviously nothing lol.

I was hoping you would give me the link to where it was Pullinbig.

when you in the bottom position the crease in the hip is aligned with the top of the knee. thats parallel.

if a guy has big legs its tougher to get the top of the quad parallel to the ground as opposed to a guy with chicken legs.

check out this clip. the first rep is parallel. stop each rep at dead bottom and line up the crease in the hip with the top of the knee. the next three reps are a bout 2-3" below parallel. if you got much size to your legs this is about as deep as you can go on back squats. the hams and calves bottom out as you can see.

found this FH. this is as deep as it gets on a back squat. looks like 625, hard to tell on those old ass plates. thats gotta be from the 60s. but none the less thats an impressive squat for a little guy. if i remember correctly that guy is a 198er. no wraps and no suit, no belt. damn!!

my question is, why is he so little then if he squats so big? i know strength equals size but is he keeping his diet in check or something. if so, wouldnt that slow progress on strength?

bro that shot is from the 60s. its older than most on this board. =0)

maybe he only weighed 135 before he started lifting. i dont know. i dont have a clue who it is what his training, eating is like. and just cause a guy is small dont mean he cant be strong. there are lots of 181ers out there putting up big numbers. a good friend of mine jus set the all time squast record in the 181 class. 855.

those are some big numbers. a good question is, is most of it genetic or is it more training then genetic?

Crease in the hips same plane to the knee, which is a damn deep squat. Anyone with moderate legs can't go much further.

shit i dont know. thats to much thinking for me. i just go the gym and lift. =0)

what difference does it make anyway. someone gonna stop lifting becuase they dont have the genetic potential to set a world record?

No, food and metabolism = size. Strength is a CNS function. Your body protects you from using your full fiber count, to increase your endurance and increase your avoidance of injuries. Little old ladies dont tip over helicoptors because they are jacked, its because the human body can do it if it wants to.

i dont agree with that 100%. i agree cns plays a a part but so do larger stronger muscles. even the smaller guys in pling add major muscle over the years. but if a guy is 5' and 125 when he gets out of high scholl he prolly aint ever gonna be 300lbs but he can get well into the 200s no prob with proper training and eating.

right. ok im gonna do the routine i posted. pullinbig, you thought it was good. its almost identical to yours and i didnt find that out til later. im sure its going to keep me busy for a while since im at a low level (not beginner). just not moving heavy ass weights because of my "always low calorie diet" when instead i can just eat a good amount of clean food and do cardio on the off days to keep the fat off and start building my strength and the size will come with it. even today i had a great workout. i increased my poundage went to 4 reps last set for flat db. i dont think im at a level where i need to start changing up much.
