Question - How to get the middle part of your body wider?

After a while I tried hard to get myself pumped up, i found that my body was a bit out of propotion. Everything about my upper body is fine except the part between my chest and hips. I have never work out on this part and actually I have no idea how. Sometimes I felt Golfing might work because it kept your upper body twirled. OR is there any exercise help?! Or that is just my body type, it wont be changed dramatically?

Plz give me some advice. Thanks.
 
heavy controlled rows to the mid section would be a good start along with deadlifts .

Heavy Compound Movements

Things such as Deadlifts and Squats really hit your core, which is what you are referring to.
