Resistance Vs Dead weight

Weights, for the simple fact that the bowflex will loose tension. THus those original 100 pounds will not be one hundred pounds in 6 weeks.

Just wondering, does anyone know if there is a relationship between resistence training and strength? Bowflex and all of the other resistence training machines only advertise strenght, not mass. Is there something about the constant strain these machines put on your body and the way they work your muscles that only lead to strength or is it just advertising? A 287 lb Ronnie type probably wouldn't sell many machines to the average American.

The main benefit of the bowflex/crossbow type machines is that they work each side of the body independently, which recruits all the stabilizing muscles in order to balance those cables (have you ever tried to use one??? They're hard as shit to balance, and this is coming from somebody who had 5 years of lifting experience before ever trying one). Basically, they do the same thing as a set of dumbells, IMO.

i dont know about them..............if they were anything worthwile i'm sure more pros would use them....and i haven't seen one use them.

i've seen people use them .. but they also hit the dead weights as well because i do know one thing about them is they hit tiny muscles that normal methods wouldnt touch. which is what horned was talking about when he mentioned stabilizer muscles. i guess it just depends on what you need and what you dont need. personally i need those stabilizer muscles. more than mass in general. plus the str gain is more important for a wrestler than mass. holding those people above your head is tough sometimes.

LoL @ Holding peeps overhead. Personally bro, for that purpose, I'd recommend freeweights ONLY. Barbells and dumbells for you my friend.

it's not the lifting them up part thats hard. it's mainly .. well for example a perfectplex. is a vettical suplex held for 10 seconds takes alot of stability for that. :p but i may use both just to get the advantage that both would have to offer..
