i though today was going to be a bad day. first of all i woke up almost an hour late. then my gas tank looks a little emptier than the day before. okay, well it always is kind of on the empty side. anyways, i was determined to hit the gym. i decided that i would have to arrive to work about an hour late, which i hate to do, i hate being late.

so i arrive at the gym, do some cardio (yeah i should do after lifting. ive tried it a couple of times but i really get unfocused after lifting) then i head on to lift.

i read a thread somewhere on this board that says that one must squats and do deadlifts to aid in growing arms (hmmm,,,,,doesnt quite make sense to me yet, but if should, and soon). anyways i started off with just doing squats with the bar, warming up form, then i added 50 lbs. usually when i get around 70 lbs my lower back is killing me and i dont think i could go past strength wise. i dont think my lower back is weak , i think it doesnt like to be squished. usually once i uplift the weight, i feel 1 foot shorter for a little while, thats also why i hate hack squat machines, i avoid hacks like the plague. anyways, today i surpassed 70 lbs, i went to 80lbs. i was feeiing really good. but i didnt stop there i wanted to get to 90 lbs, 2-45 plates. and i did it!!! i was so freakin happy to squat 2-45 plates for... 10!!!! with no back ache and knees fellin good. next squat workout, thats where im starting at and going up!!! hopefully my next landing point will be 4-45 plates in a couple of months or so. after i finished squating, i did some dead lifts. i did a warm up lift, then 50 pounds, and incramently went up to 2-45 plates. IM FEAKIN HAPPY!!!! I LOVE 45 plates!!!

okay its time to calm down. anyways, im not as strong as i want to be yet. these are just stepping stones to my ultimate goal.

Congrats on your milestone, girl! :beertoast

Why so many reps though? I find my strength goes up much quicker if I do one warm up set of 10 then jack the weight each following set but drop the reps to 8, 6, 5, and finally 4.

thank you rducky!!!

hmmm,,, i thought 10 would be a nice round number. with heavy weight, i always try to push at least 6reps. from 6 on im trying my hardest to get one more, then one more, then one more, until i cant get one more. that last one will be like half a rep or even less.
