Shortness of breath and bloat?

I've been experiencing water bloat since I started trt nearly 5 weeks ago. About a week and a half ago had anastrozole prescribed. Been taking 0.5mg - 0.75mg a week (broken into 0.25mg doses). Was still experiencing bloat, so tried 0.5mg in one dose - didn't go down well - had an allergic reaction (hives) and think I lowered my E2 too much (had cracking joints).
Just wondering if there were other things that could cause bloating and shortness of breath that weren't due to high E2. I've heard hematocrit can cause shortness of breath, but could it really be elevated 5 weeks into trt? Should I go ahead and just donate blood now? If it's relevant, I've always had a low platelet count - any relation?
Is there anything else I should have tested? I've heard high prolactin or progesterone could cause similar symptoms. I'm due for my next lot of blood work in a couple of weeks, but only have a test for TT, SHBG, E2. Should I ask the doc for prolactin and progesterone tests?

I also take supplemental iron every morning, is this something I should stop? Does TRT raise iron levels.

I wouldn't take iron while on TRT unless you know your iron is low. Exogenous Test increases your RBC's/Hematocrit.

It is always a good idea to donate blood, if your iron levels are healthy, while on TRT. No time like the present.

As for the bloatedness and shortness of breath, we are guessing without labs. Let us know how they turn out. I would get:

CBC
Metabolic Panel
Total Testosterone
Estradiol
Prolactin
Iron
Ferritin
B12
Vitamin D
TSH
Cholesterol Profile
CRP

Just realized that the shortness of breath always happens the day after my HCG shot and wasn't happening before adding HCG. The hives I got also happened on HCG day. Think I may have an allergic reaction to HCG. If that's the case then are there any alternatives to preserve fertility?

I weighed myself Christmas Eve (morning) and was sitting at 88.5kg @ approx 11.5-12%, would probably have gone up though with the Christmas food.

Are you dosing the T every 7 days ?
Are you dosing the HCG EOD ????
I find dosing the HCG E3D was way better for me. Some guys will take it E4D...
You never told us your doses for either HCG/T
Be very, very careful with extra Iron while on TRT. Make sure Ferritin is not high e.t.c.
TRT makes blood more viscous.

I've heard of CRP....
what's it for ?

Was dosing 50mg every 3.5 days, blood work at the 3 day mark and 7 day mark (ended up missing a shot and getting blood tested) was 27 (8-38). Doc wanted my T higher, so I have been doing approx 125mg every 5 days (I get pre-filled ampules of Primoteston Depot, so it's approx half an ampule every 5 days). Haven't noticed any dips moving from the 3.5 to 5 day routine and the extra test has definitely had an improvement. Dosing Anastrozole at 0.25mg every 3 days. HCG at 250-300iu day before each t-shot, but I'm going to miss the next one and see if I still get the same shortness of breath as I'm pretty sure it's an allergic reaction to the HCG. Will be cutting my supplemental iron immediately and will now go through and re-evaluate all my supplements.

I had to switch to Test Prop from Test Cyp because the longer ester forms of Test give me significant bloat, even with my E2 levels in the low 20s. When I say "significant bloat" I mean a very puffy face and even swollen ankles and elevated blood pressure. I know *most* guys only get bloat when they have elevated E2, but not everyone is the same. Oh, and I have donated blood every 52 days for the last 3 years, so I know that is not a factor in my case.

Please see a doctor OP. Shortness of breath with water retention may be a sign of heart distress. Sure, it could be elevated estradiol too, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

My .02c :)

It's been a day and the shortness of breath is fading along with the hives, it's only very mild atm. If it's no better by this afternoon then it's off to the doctors. I'm going to try and give blood today and see if that helps.

Best of luck. Let us know how it goes. :)

well if the onset and provocation seems to be coming from the hcg.. stop the hcg and see if that clears things up

Tried to give blood today, waited 40 minutes, went in for my pre-donation interview and was told I was ineligible due to being on Raloxifene. And I'd have to be off Raloxifene for 6 months before being able to donate.

If needed, yes. I just try to keep the dose at a level I won't need to. My doc is ok as long as I don't get to 54. You can still get to the upper high level of normal without needing to give blood...Some people I suppose can't, but most should be able to.

Phlebotomy is the same as donating except you can't let someone get the benefit of your blood. They throw it out. Also, it has to be prescribed.
