Small guys at the gym (rant)

Hello all,

I am visiting my family in California so I went to one of the local gyms for a guest workout. Needless to say why do the smaller, don't eat enough guys, give me shitting looks when I am giving it my all.

Now I am not that guy who grunts, yells, craziness! I do breath out on every rep, go in slow super concentrated motion. After my set is done I see stars sometimes, and get pumped.

Is society going downhill? Because I saw was swinging weights, half hearted reps, and more talking than lifting!

These are the guys that say big guys are on gear, btw, which I have not done yet, but why even let these types in? All they are going to do is injure themselves, think they are a hard gainer, and come here and troll for a source.

I am not even big, 6' 2" 220, 15%, but started out as a 165 pound skin a bones guy.

So to all the small guys trolling here get in there and do work! Quit looking at the gym as a place to meet girls, get off your fucking phone, leave your crappy friends at home, focus, eat, and the gains will come.

Rant over.

Is there a name for this types? I have no clue why this pissed me off so bad.

mate im exactly the same im from england and in my gym i go theres little idiots tryna stare you out tensing up like there hard haha i call them roaches as its what they remind me of i had to laugh last time i was there i was banging out 140 on the bench kinda struggling on my last reps and there stood laughing so i get off and stretched and 1 of them got on it and nearly burst his eyes outta his socket tryna get it off the rack then they picked up there shit and got off i ignore little worms like them and put in my earphones in and crack on

Being a skinny guy myself I get stared at every time i'm doing squats. Could also be the guy's are staring at you, wishing they could be lifting like you some day.

I go a very small gym and I see it all the time, these little "kids" with no diet and zero form on exercises, they have been in the gym for a year + and honestly I think they got smaller.. I have tried to be nice and explain proper form and not to concentrate solely on how much your putting up. They look at you like whatever I know what I'm doing.. So now I just shut my mouth and let them be. Its just funny to see a 130 pound guy trying to do alternate curls with 60 pounders, I usually give the odd remark like that's one hell of a back workout your doing and walk away.. Even better is when they ask you for a spot, you walk over to the bench press (its always the bench press) and the same 130 pound guy has 2 plates on the bench. You spot him and have to literally lift the weight for him.. Again comments are priceless and when they are done I usually say "thanks I needed to do shrugs anyways" and walk away..

Hahaha. I swear this has happened to me so many times. I just put on my "mean face" now and keep the volume cranked. If a regular asks me for help, I'll head over and spot him. But the 150lb kids that are jumping on the lat pull down machine to get the weight to move so they can do some crazy back exercise drive me nuts! I don't mind the stares as I do get pretty intense as I psyche myself up before each and every set, no matter what exercise it is. That and my head turns about as red as a big sweaty tomato, so it's understandable.

Funny story about guys trying to swing up the big dumbbells doing curls: I actually saw a guy doing this so fervently and with such intensity he actually had a back spasm happen on his last set and had to be carried out. I only hope the young bucks saw this and learned from his mistake. I've given up on trying to educate them as I always get a snotty remark or a "uh huh" and they go right back to shit form. Oh well. :)

Yeah I could see how that would be annoying. I always get that look from people looking at me like I'm a pussy cause I focus more on form than weight. It took me a good 4 weeks to get back up to benching a plate on my own and I still struggle with it at times.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that, we all started somewhere and I was 120 pounds soaking wet at 5'10" when I started so I know how it feels. Don't let the amount you push get ya down, its all about your personal progress and to hell what anyone else thinks. With time and diet things will advance on their own. I see it all the time you will get the "big ladies" coming in on the treadmill and people start making fun of them immediately, you know what at least they are being proactive and trying to do something about their issue why knock them down you should be praising them.. Best part is those same ladies usually have smoking hot friends.

Try being a girl and you can lift more then some of the guys... How do you think I feel when skinny guys look at me ... Fucking tools!

Or guys period, or fat bitches and twig bitches...

UGH!

This is a great opportunity to go on about one guy.

I don't know his goals but, I'm going to say, he's trying to gain size and he fucking just sucks balls.

Dude just sucks, he literally has made not one single gain. I see him day in and day out, same shit, he records everything which blows my mind. If you don't see on paper that you're not able to lift more then, I think it's time to switch shit up. He's probably 6'2, no more then 145/150lbs. His lift suck! I'd be ashamed of myself if that was me and not making a change in anything.

I almost want to ask him if he's made any gains but, it's not my business. And I shouldn't be bashing him but, it's like a waste almost.. Maybe he's happy with himself, I don't know but, he gives me creepy fucking looks.

its quality not quantity mate no point tryna be like other dicks in the gym throwing too heavy weights about just cause injury hey i struggled benchin 40 kg when i started look at me now pressin 140- 150 on a good day stick at it in time the gains and heavier weight will come

The same little pricks who "reserve" more than one set of dumbbells. Yeah you need to set the 40s on the ground by your bench while you're using the 30s. Dicks.

you know what I hate? being the only girl on the weight room floor using any sort of real weight and having the guys lookin at me like I don't belong there
or being obv douches hogging equipment. Its about the only time I get on a gender rant.

They arent staring at you because they think you dont belong there. They are probably starting because there is nothing hotter than a female strength training.

I'm one of those small guys at the gym. 5'7 150lbs. Gotta start somewhere though.

There are tons of these guys at my gym. They all go there in the afternoon so I said fuck it and started waking up balls early and go before work. There's only a few people in there and 2 of the guys stare at me from the time I get there till they leave.(They also think they're badass's and do cable croosovers everyday thinking their chest is gonna get cut up. I get a good chuckle from it everyday.) I can deal with 2 guys instead of 10-15. I'm just glad I'm going to be switching gyms soon.

Agreed mornings are much better. 5AM and there are 3 people there including me. Not only that but they are adults and not the high school kids that you get during the afternoons/evenings.
