Soreness around injection site two weeks after

Hello all - I've been self injecting Test Cip and Vitamin B12 for about 18 months now without any issues. I inject weekly and usually alternate the quads. Occasionally if my wife happens to be around, I ask her to inject in my posterior.

About three weeks ago I did my right quad and it went smoothly as usual. However, about two weeks later my entire quad is hurting. Sometimes it hurts so bad it feels like a knife is stabbing me. I sometimes even have trouble picking up my leg and swinging it over when I get in bed. And occasionally when walking it almost feels like my quad momentarily "gives out" and my step is sloppy.

I have no visible bruising which is actually strange, as I take Coumadin and bruise easily at times.

I can feel a small knot at the injection site, and the leg is slighting swollen but probably noticeable to anyone.

My wife thinks I should roll it out on a roller the gym but I am not sure how that will go because it hurts so bad at times.

Has anyone had injection site issues like this?

Thanks

Never had this happen and hope that it stays that way!

Sorry, i don't know what that could be but the best thing i could tell you is to give the quads a break and hit the glutes and shoulders for a while...

Good luck.

I have never experienced this. If it was me, I would be worried there is an infection or abscess inside your leg. The swelling and pain would worry me. Does you leg feel warm to the touch or can you see redness anywhere, especially where your veins are?

If it has been going on this long you really should go to urgent care right away. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

I feel no heat when I touch it with my hand, and there's no redness or bruising at all. The lack of bruising is strange in my case because I take Coumadin and I bruise pretty easily.

When I lay in bed on my stomach, I can tell that leg is slightly swollen.

The pain is actually starting to go away. It was constant all last weekend, but now it's only hurting when I am standing and I try to pick up that leg to put on a sock or shoe.

I may wait one more day and if it's not noticeably better tomorrow afternoon I will make a doctor appointment for Friday.

Thanks for everyone's feedback, I will keep this thread posted.

Hello all -

Thanks for the thread 1693, I will read it in a moment.

The Det Oak - I am getting my B12 prescribed by my testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) doctor and getting them from Kroger Pharmacy.

It's been about a week since my last post. I have not gone to the doctor yet but I am trying to make an appointment today. It seemed to be getting better slowly over time but now it seems to be the same the past few days. I've gained some flexibility back but I'm still unable to do leg extensions. There is now well defined, hard knot about the size of golf ball. It's mostly under the surface but my wife can tell by looking at me while standing that it's there. There's never been a bruise and I am about 4 weeks now since injecting in that site.

Just as I was typing this my doctors office called back and will be seeing me tomorrow at 4pm. I'll post here once I know what he thinks.

Thanks

Going today at 4pm.

My wife rubbed it some for me last night and said it does feel warm to her. She begged me to let her pin it and see if she could get any fluid out but I wussed out.

My visit to the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) doc on July 3rd was a bust. I waited over an hour and the line quite long so I canceled my appointment and left.

I had to go to my family doctor last week for a stomach bug I've had for a few days and went ahead and had the nurse practitioner look at it. She was pretty clueless. She first told me that Test Cyp was thick and "designed" to stay in the muscle for a COUPLE OF MONTHS. LOL

I told her the half life was much short than that, then she rubbed it again and said it was probably just a knot and that it should continue to shrink.

There is no more pain and it is actually shrinking VERY slowly. My wife massaged it twice over the weekend hoping to help speed up the healing - what ever it is.

So no real answer but at least the pain is gone and it does seem to be shrinking.

I would just jump on a vet website and grab some anti-biotics to be safe. Take them for 2 weeks and see if that helps. If that doesn't it sounds like a sterile abcess.

Man that is nothing to play with! My wife had a life-threatening infection from b12 she damn near got her arm amputated! She still has an indentation scar! Similar storyToo. the crazy thing was that the serious part of the infection didn't start for almost a month after the shot, it was just a little warm and a little sore, then all of a sudden man it took off in her arm swelled up huge we went into the hospital and they admitted her she was in there for 3 weeks for recovering!
Very scared for your man get it checked out good luck!

Just a quick update: Other than talking to the useless nurse practitioner about my lump, I never sought medical help. It's been about 90 day now and the lump is just about gone and only the size of a dime. There is no pain whatsoever.

I guess I'll never know what it was, but I think I'll avoid pinning that leg for a while longer.

Thanks for all of the replies.
