Squats are just not going up.

i thought it was more of a mass excersise?

it biulds strenth. try 1 set of 20 for 4 weeks plus normal assistance work. then go back and max out again on week 5.

the prob with 20 reppers is it shoud not be used over the long haul. but for a variation from time to time it works.

and remeber 20 reppers are done with weight that you can get 12-15 reps. the last 5-8 reps should be brutal and r/p. pumping off 20 reps with a light weight is not a 20 repper.

Thanks PB for the vid. I think I've seen the actual machine at my gym before, if I saw wrong, then I will try those alternatives. Many thanks.

dumb.

if you have sore knees wrapping is a good idea.

and if hes having knee probs leg extensions is the last thing he needs to do.

IF wrapping the knees makes them feel better and allows you to squat it is probably a good idea. I have seen the info that says not to, and i have gone back and forth on this until i met people who have actually been squatting for a long time and wrap quite often. and I am not sure anyone has ever been harmed from wrapping the knees. I probably wouldn't recommend comp tight but i don't see how a moderate wrap is bad.

As for leg extensions, they are used in rehab of the knee, but i think it is more for after reconstructions, when the muscles have completely atrophied around the knee, and done pretty light. Leg extensions bothered my knees like nothing else. As a matter of fact it is the only think that has bothered my knees. I cannot see wanting to do these if you have wear and tear knee issues. I would like to here some info from a PT on this.

Please do. Extensions used to kill me as well, if i had any stretch at the bottom it would be real bad for about two days.
