heres another thing i've been wondering...i have a nice shape to my legs but am lacking mass...my normal routine is as follows

5 min Eliptical
BB Lunges X 2
Squats X 4
Leg Press X 3
...if not toast from that i might do 2 sets of extensions

question is:

i dont have much of an inner sweep, and my ass suxors haha...i was wondering if i should stick to squats only...but don't know the procedure to do this

how many sets?

how many warm up sets?

etc

any help would be appreciated

....i got this idea from another post i just read by a guy wanting to do a powerbuilding routine (sorry dude i dont remember your name right now) back in febuary....since pullinbig posted and didn't see any problem with this i thought about incorporating this into my routine

squats only will work fine. for inner sweep widen your stance and for a bigger ass make sure the squats are all the way down. to the bottom of the universe.

make sure you doing some postreior core work as well.

Isn't it really really hard on the knee's to squat all the way down?

I've heard that once you go past parralell your knees become brakes and you eventually will have problems, could be wrong though I guess.

your hams bottom out on your calves is what stops ya. not your knees. if you cut it short then your knee act as a brake. =0l

depends on stance too. ultra wide squaters sometimes have trouble getting real deep due to flexability of groin and hams.

cool..i appreciate it...i always switch my stance from fairly wide to shoulder width..ALWAYS ass to floor....but i've had a few groin problems from the wider stance, so lately i've been doing shoulder width, with toes BARELy outward

but for the second part: how many sets for squats only?

and is their anything else i can do for that inner sweep? wide stance hurtzes me

wide stance leg press or hacks for inner quad. make sure that the knees stay apart and do not buckle inwards.

set/rep range varies from person to person. change it around often

For a whole semester the only leg exercise I did was squats and I got way stronger.

You could try something like this, although i would through in some stiffed deads and legcurls for hams.
4sets 4-6rep Ass deep
4sets 4-6rep 90 degree
2sets 6-8rep Ass deep

good luck.

i think ill try this for 4 weeks ... see how it goes ... ill post up later to tell if i made any progress

and i have a big fear of hack squats...i dont know how it happened over a year ago, but only 270 lbs sent me to hospital with what i THOUGHT was a slipped disk, turned out to be a sprained erectus...thank god...i think that was the last time i cried..and it wasnt for pain...thought i was gonna be out for good...nothin' like having 3 bodybuilders carry you out of the gym and to the hospital

meh...learning experience...definately learned to be more careful...if something hurts...STOP

sometimes pain is NOT weakness leaving the body..it is only the beginning

hmmmsince we're talking about leg routines ..
is it alright to drop the leg press if you're worn out from doing squats??
and if so, when can ya do leg presses??

thanks

Suppose it'd depend on what u did for squats. Many times, after my squat program I don't get to leg press cuz i'm completely burnt out. Listen to your body. Think u could grow just as good on squats if not better then pressing. Wouldn't hurt to switch it up though. Maybe 1 wk just don't do quite as many working sets for squats & do a few presses then. Don't take my word for it though, i'm no expert when it comes to working legs :P
