Do they really raise natural test levels?
I've read this several times on the board, and don't believe it.
Anyone have proof of this, or is it just another misconception that somebody took too far?

ive read studies in the past that said due to the extreme overall body involvement squats and deads caused an increase in not only test but growth hormone as well , i never keep stuff like that on hand except in my head so i cant post any studies .
 
Isn't the nausea you feel during squats a sign of growth hormone release?

same here..

But even if it werent true, look at those who squat and pull and tell me theyre having a hard time putting on size or getting stronger.
 
yes, every excercise increases production of growth hormone, but squats and heavy leg excercises increase it a hell of a lot more. thats what this guy told me that works at the gym i go to. he said they did an experiment at some college, where they had a group of guys only do upper body workouts for a certain amount of time, and another group do upper body workouts and leg workouts, and the second group experienced more muscle growth, upper and lower body, then the first group. he told me it was a big difference too.

it makes sense...given you can squat like 2 or 3 times what you can bench. heavier weights = more growth hormone needed to grow. same for compound excercises, more muscles being worked = more growth hormones.

not sure what natural test is though, i thought test just raises protien synthesis.
 
I am not sure if the hormone increase is great enough or for a long enough duration to have any real effect. The real effect comes from just how intense these two exercises can be and how much stress they put on the body--forcing it to grow. I can only attest that heavy squats and deads have made all of the difference. If I could only do two exercises squats and deadlifts would be my choice.
