Squatting 218lbs for 98 reps

David Gilmour

TOOLband.com
Posted this in the convo-l as well.

Stats from the that video:

Name: John Allen
Age: 40
Body weight: 218lbs

He's "Sarge" over at marunde-muscle.com

After performing 98 and a half repetitions, he has the will to stand up and accomplish his mission(which was 100) but didn't quite execute it/that rep.. Fucking amazing.. :yesway:

If any of you dont find that impressive, just try holding 218lbs on your back for 10 minutes, let alone squatting it 98 times..

there've been a few guys over at EF who've done 20 rep sets. one guy did 330 for 20, another guy recently did 254 for 20 but is aiming for 305 for 20 soon... they've put up vids for these. those were brutal. i guess the only reason someone who could (and did too) do 218 for 98 reps was just a personal test... for shits and giggles i guess.

that guy trains for endurance. that clip has been on the web for a year or two now.

on a side note i used to do 20 reppers and have a best of 495 for 20. that was a couple years ago but i did get on a kick last year of hitting 405 for 20 at the beginning of my squat workout. i think they may be in my log from spring of 05.

i have full confidence that you could squat 500 for 20 but i am surprised that you could count that high . :jump:

495 for 20 is VERY impressive

if I was wounded in war and lost my legs that guy better carry me home on his back thats the only thing I can think of thats useful why he did that to carry his wounded buddies home...

i disagree . we all push ourselves for different reasons ,the bodybuilders here are almost exclusively concerned in how they look , powerlifters are mostly concerned in their squat/bench/deadlifts , strongmen competitors mostly in raw strength and stamina for strongman competitions , sprinters want speed , etc. . you can go on and on but the bottom line is we all have different goals and different things that drive us and if endurance is what drives that guy i respect that 100% and i hope next time he gets that last 2 reps .

Yeah...u're crazy 2 PB :P
Thats insane. I did 20 reppers when pb was training me and i thought those were bad. I wasn't pushing 495 for 20 either :P
Very impressive clip
