Steroid morality debate.

Matthias1550

open minded conservAtive.
I have a friend with whom I have debated many times over the morality of steroid use. Most times we seem to go in circles with the issue. I am not trying to convince him to use steroids nor am I trying to belittle the dangers of steroid abuse. Quite simply I am trying to educate him and get my point of view across. Does anyone here have any good literature or articles I could pass along. Any help much appreciated.

Morality is ones opinion, their is nothing more i hate than people trying to push their opinions on me.

cosign-first you must define morality...than proceed from there..eventually everyone is a hyporcrite...from a judeo-christian point of view

I dont see a moral problem as long as you're doing it just to better yourself. Looking better makes me feel better about myself and thus a better person

exactly..people like it or not put steroids in the same category as other illegal drugs like heroin..to them there is no difference and they view it as cheating since they are illegal substances

I used to be more about showing people my views and such, and why/how I thought they were acceptable (with all things in life) but now I just let people be unless they express an honest, non-malevolent interest and we can discuss it in a mature manner. If they are hostile to ideas, then screw it. Let them be, and go about your happy go lucky business.

A man cornered by YOUR thoughts, is going to only be more convinced he is correct. To win over someone to your side of thinking, or even be open minded, you must be somewhat passive. They will come on their own time or they wont.

You can lead a horse to water but...

If breaking the law is immoral, than yes taking steroids for vanity purposes is immoral. But then again, some dont think breaking certain laws are immoral, they may consider a certain law immoral themselves, like gay marriage. I speed sometimes, and thats breaking the law. I guess it comes down to individual morals......which is pretty much what was stated before by others before I started rambling.........

Unfortunately for our modern society the civil law does not conform to the moral law. It is the moral law that must always take precedence over the civil law, otherwise any society will inevitably self destruct, (which is and will happen here in the USA).

I always pose this question: If you had a son who was dying from a very rare disease, one in which there was yet no know cure in the USA, but where there is a drug available in Europe which has been highly successful; would you let your son die because importing the drug he needs to save his life would be illegal under curent civil laws, or would you attempt to illeagally import the drug in order to save your son's life? It is your moral responsibily to make every effort to save your son's life, but under current civil laws, attempting to save your son's life would be violating the civil law!!

It is not morally wrong for someone to use, (not abuse), Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) to improve overall health. Middle age men are taking Testosterone for improved health and anyone who is sufferring from any wasting away disease can and will be put on HGH and AAS.

Abortion is legal under the guise that a woman has a right to do what she wants to her own body, (even though it involves the killing of another innocent human being). With that being the standard in which the Supreme Court legalizes the killing of innocent children, shouldn't we all have the right to do what we want with our own bodies?

Is it moral? like i could even care if somebody believes i`m doinf something immoral, it wouldnt be the first time. how come nobody ever asks if it`s moral to nut on a girls face? we all wanna do it, yet nobody asks that question. anybody who tries to push their morals on me can shove it in their arse because they are most likely very under educated on aas.

Good post Deepglute. Why is it considered legal for an individual to get huge breast implants, butt implants cheek implants, lyposuction, face lift, etc. etc. however illegal for that same individual to build muscle? People ingest and implant all sorts or crap into their body that is considered legal yet more dangerous than AAS. I consider myself a moral person however I do use AAS. It was only after years of personal debate and research that I decided to use them. Why did I come to the conclusion that steriod use not abuse was moral? Because after educating myself on them I realized they do not violate my personal value system.

Obesity- 400,000.

Alcohol/Tobacco- 470,000.

Falls/Fires/Poison/Drown- 15,298

Here are some stats one of my friends sent me. These are based on data collected in 2004. How often do you open the paper or click on the TV and hear a story about someone overdosing on steroids. It would seem the Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) "pandemic" as the media calls it should be the least of anyones worries.

in my opinion useing steroids is only immoral if you are stealing to get them , useing your familys food or rent money , or useing them and competeing in a " drug free " competition , etc. as for just useing them its not immoral or for that matter its not anyone elses business.
