strong/weak calves..a big deal on squats?

here's a question that's been buggin me..does strong/weak calves development affect the majority of your squats?? thanks
 
The short answer is yes, but only slightly. There will still be a weak link but it is not an overly important factor when you consider the other muscles responsible for the lift. As well, the fact that your calves would be growing as your body weight increases should keep them somewhat on pace as the rest of your body. I've never seen a massive powerlifter with tiny calves, whether they train them or not.

whats considered tiny though in comparison to what? ryan kennelly seems like his calves are tiny compared to his upper body setup, but I bet their still bigger than average joes calves.
