GET BIG
I need some information on strongmen. I am interested in trying to compete...maybe not on a very competitive level, but nevertheless think it would be fun and something i defiantly want to do. How would one go about doing this? also, what are some training programs that i could use to begin training for this.

if you check out pullinbigs journal there are great ideas there for when he was going to compete in a stronman comp.

He was doing lots of front squats to help w\the stones. Kettlebell work or just use db's and take a glance at the rest of the journal---great stuff.

From the strongman competitors I've talked to on the boards, I get the impression that no matter how strong you are you can't do very well in competition if you haven't trained on the specific events they have in a strongman competition. Those things take skill and experience as well as raw strength.

True....you will realize this the first time you lap a 330lb marble and try to stand up with it.

I have a bro that trains for strongman oout here..he also trained with don pope out here also...i dont care for pope..but none the less....my bro trains specifically for the events using the specific items they use..or as close to it as possible....he has tractor tires...stones...etc..he does a ton of deads and squats..and a ton of grip exercises and forearm work...he has the shittiest bench for a 300 pound guy, but you dont bench in strongman comps anyhow...it is a ton of back, leg, trap, and grip strength...

I got a tractor tire today for $Free.99. I will be flipping it (the starting position for this event is so similar to o-line) and hitting it with a sledge hammer. The sledge is a technique used by mostly fighters I believe but its great for grip, core, explosiveness and endurance. That shit was difficult to get in the back of my truck.
