TRT vs. cycling 500mg test-e/week

After having my blood work evaluated several times, my total testosterone has come up in the range of 400-470. This is just high enough that practically no dr. will prescribe TRT but low enough where I feel pretty shitty most of the time. As a 23 year old with several years of lifting experience, I am feeling more and more inclined to starting a test-e cycleof 500mg/wk. What do you guys think about this over continuing pursuing TRT? Diet and lifting are already covered, I plan to stick to a highly organized meal plan and workout schedule.

Hi there, Cleyton.

Have you used any type of antipsychotic drugs in the past? Any testicular or head trauma?

I've never used any antipsychotic drugs. I did sustain a pretty hard hit on my head as a child, but doctors did not find anything notable from an MRI that I had on my head.

Stick with the doctor! There may be a more serious issue that needs to be addressed. Don't try any short cuts with this. Your long term health is to important!!

Interesting. It's very unusual for someone your age to experience levels this low. You may want to request that your doctor refer you to a urologist. It's entirely important to find out what the root cause is. Your testosterone levels are not low for no reason. Of course you can cycle if you wish, but my recommendation is to continue the journey with a urologist or endocrinologist. You're very young and there's more than plenty of time to cycle later. Cycling now could hinder any chance of finding the cause and treating it. It may be treated without testosterone, such as a thyroid related Low T correlation.

There are other things you should check first if you haven't already.

Thyroid panel
Sleep study (apnea can really mess you up)
Cholesterol
LH and FSH

I'm probably forgetting some others.

Thanks for the feedback.

I've seen a urologist and he determined my prolactin levels were high. (I believe 21, with the upper limit being 19 on ref scale). From there he prescribed me bromocriptine for 2 months. I took it, and I didn't feel any different from it.

My bloods were tested and here are some of the values:
Luteinizing Hormone(LH), LH 4.7 (1.7-8.6) mIU/mL BN
EstradiolEstradiol 18.8 (7.6-42.6) pg/mL BN
FSH 3.1 (1.5-12.4) mIU/mL BN

Nothing on the MRI? At all?

High prolactin could be a sign of a pituitary tumor. Don't be alarmed, it's very rare that it's not benign. Could be from birth.

The receptionist at the uro said he didn't find anything..then again she was very impatient and who the hell knows if she knew what she was talking about. I'm going to follow up/see if the 2nd opinion sees anything as well.

I agree that its smart to rule out any underlying causes first. I'll see what I get from my second uro; not ruling out cycling at this point though..
