The Colorado Experiment

For those familiar with Arthur Jones (creator of Nautilous machines), Casey Viator, and the Colorado Experiment, what are your opinions on the whole subject? While we're on the subject, Mike Mentzer and Dorian Yates (less) followed High Intensity Training principals, with Dorian doin a little more volume the Mike.

Have you guys tried anything like it, DC, HIT, and liked it, saw good results? I tried a modified version a good 10 years ago and saw amazing results, strength, growth of muscles, etc.. I just finished up 3 weeks of it and it worked really good still. Im goin back to volume workouts for a little while, but may return to hit style sooner, rather than later.

Another program of interest is the 5-3-1, but thats for a later discussion.

I just read about the Colorado Experiment. Absolutely amazing, 63 pounds in 28 days!

I'm very tempted to give it a go myself.

Koi.

Yeah I think guys looking to get bigger need to see this. Its at least worth considering doin. I did something similar to it without ever hearing or knowing what the colorado experiment was. My results were incredible. I just finished about 3 weeks of Tim Ferris's version and saw pretty good results from that. Im a believer.

With this Colorado Exp. Training in mind... how does one figure lifting percentages?... It doesnt say anywhere? 50%-80% I think that would play a huge role in the results

The "Colorado experiment" was debunked years ago. There are three main reasons.

First: Casey was coming back from a severe injury/illness which cost him a lot of muscle. Regaining muscle is much easier and faster than building it in the first place.

Second: Casey was on steroids at that time. And he used them heavily BEFORE the experiment to make those gains. If you don't believe that then I have a house in the Carribean to sell you.

Third: Casey confessed some time after the experiment that he sneaked in a lot of extra work at local gyms in addition to the Colorado workouts. This has since been refuted by Viator, but not until several years later.

Stop looking for crazy ass answers to simple questions.

You wanna get big. Eat big, lift big, rest big. And of course steroids make it even better. :D

Thanks for clearing that up for us RJH. Now about this house in the Carribean?... :hahano:

I'm not saying the guy wasn't an animal. But its not really relative when speaking about normal guys who don't have the genetic capacity he did. In terms of the workout i mean. Its a bit of false advertising, for lack of a better term.

Another example is one of my favs who never made it Pro. Dennis Newman. Ended up with leukemia and ended up needing a bone marrow transplant (nasty stuff).

He admitted to taking juice during his recovery and made similar gains in muscle.

People don't realize how amazing muscle memory is.
