Why is ok to do bi's and back on the same day but not chest and shoulders.Bi's are getting hit when you do back and shoulders are getting hit when you do chest..So whats the difference???

who does somehing like this?anyone?
mon-chest/cardio
tues-bis/forearms
weds-tris cardio
thurs -back/legs
fri -shoulders/cardio

Alot of people tell me do just one muscle group a day and beat the crap out of it. I just dont feel liek ive done enough like that though. If I do my chest I feel like i must do my shoulders.

numbnutz ;)... if you do cardio after lifting, make sure that you take a protein shake between the two. mainly because your body will begin to heal your newly worked muscles, and of course, it needs protein to do so :) if you start cardio right after your body will go into a catatonic state and actually eat your muscles for then energy that it needs to do cardio forever how long it is.
also... read the 5 x 5 sticky, it was very helpful to me, i was once (like 2 weeks ago lol) like you thinkin more more more more, but in fact i found out that less is more :)

@ dadawg

just curious....what's your workout like for your thursday's main event ;)

Thanx
5 work sets on bench reverse grip 5-6 reps [ sometimes with chains, bands or bench shirts ]
3 -4 sets hammerstrength overhead press
3-4 sets of hammerstrength decline or incline press [ i mix it up ]
3 sets skullcrushers
3 sets cable pressdowns
3 sets side delt work either machine or dumbbells
this is average and about minimum , sometimes i will throw in pec deck and rear delt work and i always warm up good i usually take a warm up set for just about every excercise .

i think they wanted to know about back/leg day. you doin 75% of your body on one day.

chest shoulders and tris go well together just as back and bis do. make sure to do rear delts on back day and not chest day. ( i dont do shoulders, cause the compound movments takes care of them for me).

yes i do :) and so far it has been working for me :D for me its :
day 1: chest/tris
day 2: back
day 3: shoulders
day 4: a little bis and abs
day 5: legs

and on off days i do cardio, about 45 mins each day :)
i had been severly overtraining myself doing 25-30 sets a day :( now i do 9 sets each day total :) ive made a lot of changes, and i feel better about it :)

Is this true or not?? There have been so many people here and posts saying exactly what you said above but then so many saying that doing your cardio after your workout is the optimal time for doing cardio b/c your body is depleted of its glycogen stores so it'll burn fat for energy, not muscle.

I wish there was a definite answer on this.... :(

yea i am not 100% certain... pullinbig or needsize im sure have some more insight on this :) but i know that after a good day of lifting, my muscles are worked, and i can feel it :) what happens when you cut your finger? your body begins to basically form a blood clot around the broken blood vessles.. and it starts to do this immediately. when you work your muscles there are little tears in the fibers of your muscle, and they get repaired. i dont see any evidence saying that your body puts muscle repair on hold... thats why within 30 mins after finishing my lift i at least start drinkin, if not finish my protein shake :)

thats my 2 cents...

when you exercise, your metabolism stays elevated for a fairly long period of time afterwards. So if you train, then do cardio, its elevated 1x per day, if you train and do cardio at a different point, it gets elevated for twice as long

I've always used the push, pull, legs routine...

Push = all lifts that require a "push" to move the weight
Pull = all lifts that require a "pull" to move the weight

U can read lots of contradicting info on this, but it makes sense to do cardio post workout
