Thumbs up for deadlifts

I like deads, but I don't think they work the traps?????
Deads work the legs and lower back. Why should it work the traps since the arms are extended during the motion. Shrugs or Chins work the traps.

I recently pulled a completely raw 705.5 and my traps were sore for about 3 days.

Once you start pulling HEAVY and intense...they will work your traps.

I can't do deadlifts. I don't think I know how to do them properly. Usually the time of day when i go to my gym, it's all old people so I can't really get help there, and i've read different ways to do it, but I have no one to correct me on if i'm doing them improperly. I feel that when I do them, that they start to hit my knee's, then it's like i'm turning it into straight leg deadlifts. I wanna be able to do deadlifts very badly. Can anyone tell what i'm doing wrong (it'd probably be easier to tell me what i'm doing right haha) and explain in a detailed way on how to do them correctly?

Thanks so much.

keep humping and keep pumping.

What are the major muscle groups targeted by traps? As for back, what areas of the back are impacted the most?
