Tips for people who eat out of boredom?

71Avido

Waiting to die.
That's me, my weekends are very slow and I find myself eating out of boredom.
Grazing is more like it. Home life sucks at the moment, I'm working on that, just kinda stuck for now.

Any tips for people who eat out of boredom?

(besides the obvious "do something fatty!")

Get out of the house and do anything to get active. Walks, hikes, pick up games, running around a track, etc. snack on vegetables like carrots, tomatoes and cucumbers with a bit of salt and olive oil, make salads etc. those are low low calorie options that can help fill you up without killing your daily caloric intake. Try eating more protein on those days since protein has the highest satiety of any macro. And finally, you already know you snack out of boredom that's 50% of the battle to come to the realization. When you find yourself snacking you've got to mentally ask yourself if its bc you're filling your macros or bc you're bored. If its the latter use your willpower and stop yourself before gettin too far into the snack haha

nice post dre...

i agree.. but i'd rather up my activity level..

exercising reminds you that you have a goal in mind.. going for a hike.. a walk.. a bike ride.. something.. takes away bordem

I know a few that say they chew gum all day to keep their mind off of food.
That and drink lots if water.

^ this. Or you could just rub one out every time you get the urge to eat? I spend most of my weekend sleeping, and eat in between naps.

My dentist says too much gym chewing leads to problems with teeth and jaw. Just FYI lol. I still chew gum but not as much as I used to

Thanks brother :D. I would too rather up activity level but just figured I'd give multiple options lol. I personally love hikes and where I am has plenty of trails to go to :)

wtf did this thread degenerate into, OX jaw and masturbation, pace yourself fellas lol.

I've got mixed feelings about gum. One one hand I see that it could be a way of cheating the desire to eat.
On the other hand, I feel like it trains you to want to chew or eat something constantly.
Oral fixation sort of thing.

This past weekend I did really well. It just took more willpower than I usually muster.
Also, not buying crap at the store really helped.
It's hard to binge on crap when you don't have crap to binge on!

start off with eliminating grains out of your diet. once you can do that , getting the rest of your diet dialed in follows quickly.

And this has to do with boredom eating how??

Not to mention that grains and a diet that's "dialed in" are not mutually exclusive of each other. I'd like to see how you think elimination of grains will help (not mentioning gluten intolerant or sensitive people) and why you can't have grains on a "dialed in" diet.
