Traveling with my prescription testosterone on a Plane

I've read the TSA website and it looks like as long as I bring my prescription with me and my doctor's contact info I'm good to go for bringing my testosterone and some unused syringes with me. I'll be keeping them in a ziplock in my carry on and removing them before screening so they are visible and no on gets surprised by them. Still nervous about it. I don't have a prescription for my HCG so I will be SOL for that for a week. Going to give myself an extra shot of it in the morning before I leave though. Tiny balls on vacation = no fun lol.

Suggestions and shared experience much appreciated!

FWIW I've traveled probably 50 times over the last two years with a vial and some insulin syringes in my carry-on and they have never been commented on.

Liquid medications don't need to be separated, and I don't think the 1/2" needles on insulin pins look very threatening on the xray machine. I put my little "kit" in my camera bag which has lots of cables and other "noisy" things in it.

Technically, you are supposed to "declare" them, but I think that just gives them an excuse to make an issue out of it.

So you don't take them out and say something, just put the carry on on the conveyer? Do you have the bottle and pins packed separately or just in your carry on loose. I know I'm over thinking this lol but that is what I do, obsess about the details.

No I don't say anything. I have a small zippered bag that holds my meds and pins and I keep that in a camera bag that has lots of other metal stuff in it.

If you say something you just put them in the position of having to figure out what to do with the information (chances are your random TSA goon will have no idea).

If I'm called on it I will request a private screening and shame them for embarrassing me about my medication.

I once took a loose .22 cartridge through security by accident (NEVER use the same bag as a range bag and a carry-on - lesson learned!)

TSA in the states didn't notice it. Security in Frankfurt did, and delayed me but eventually dropped the matter. Good times.

Lmao good point about not looking for trouble from the TSA goon. I'll put it in my laptop bag with my camera, tablets and other assorted electronics. Thanks!

In addition to the prescription labels, I also carry a letter from my clinic just in case.

Guess I should call my doctor and get a letter

Having a letter would just be an extra precaution. Don't feel like you really need to get one. As long as your medication has a valid prescription label on it, you'll be 100% fine.

Myself and others have travelled with our meds many times. I've never even had the TSA inquire about my meds or needles. I just leave it in my bag, no need to draw attention to it.

Think about how many insulin dependent diabetics there are in the world, all of them travel with their supplies with zero issue. Same goes for guys on TRT.

Prescription labeled bottle and new fresh syringes in a ziplock bag inside your carry on it the way to go. DO NOT EVER put them into your checked luggage. I wouldnt tell the screeners I have blood pressure medication in my bag, or Xanax for flight anxiety, so why should I treat medication for this private medical condition any different. I do carry a letter from my clinic when flying internationally however, just in case. It could make the extra "entrance fee" easier to negotiate with something that a court of law even in a banana republic would instantly recognize as valid reason for possession.

I've put my TRT gear, along with my prescription, in my suitcase that was checked. It was checked both times by TSA, had the little note left behind, but they left it alone.

I agree. just have all of your stuff legit with intact labels to lessen hassle and your good.

Last time flying home from Logan Airport, I was stopped after the x ray machine. Security said they needed to check something in my carry on. I waited a few minutes, expecting them to ask about my needles or test, but that wasn't what they were suspicious of. They asked if they could check the end pocket in my duffel bag. When they opened it, they saw the questionable item. An old family bible that I was bringing home.

So, don't worry about prescription test nor needles. Just be careful if you have a bible. :scratchhe

Well my asshole doctor never called me back about giving me a letter lol. Since there is no way to bill my insurance for it I guess it wasn't a high priority. Good thing its just an extra precaution.

Glad you feel better about the whole thing now. The more of us who are traveling and treating it like its no big deal, which it isn't, the easier it'll be.

i wouldnt risk it even with a script..what i would do is shoot a huge shot of test U and go in peace

That could be a good option, but for those in the US who stick to prescribed pharma stuff, pharma test U is not easy to get, and very expensive.

What would be the issue with putting it in a checked bag?

What about hiding it another item in your suit case......like stuffing it in a shoe or something
