bro i don't even believe you can separately work the upper or lower pec( the clavicular or sternocostal portions), but that is a whole different kettle of fish

YOU CANNOT WORK THE INNER CHEST

YOU CANNOT WORK THE INNER CHEST

YOU CANNOT WORK THE INNER CHEST

please feel free to edumacate me and let me know the origin + insertion of the inner chest muscle fibres

Come on man...I never said that the "inner chest" was a specific muscle group. Im not retarded. The chest consists actually of two muscles...they are the pectoralis major which starts in your clavicle and sternum and pretty much covers the whole chest area, and the serratus anterior which is the smaller part that is between the ribs and the scapula. But you can work the inner "PART" of the chest...I will be glad to post some stuff that shows how to work the inner "PART" of the chest. Come on though, dont try to make me look like an idiot by acting like I meant something different. I dont know everything about bodybuilding by any means, but I know enough to get me by.

I dont know everything about bodybuilding by any means, but I know enough to get me by.

here i pulled this offa web site these are the two muscle groups of the chest:
http://www.fitstep.com/Advanced/Anatomy/Chest.htm

The Pectoralis Major muscles (also known as the Pecs) are located on the front of the rib cage.

The Pecs attach to the humerus near the shoulder joint and originate on the breastbone in the center of the chest.

The fibers of the Pectoralis muscles run like a fan across the chest. The fan-like structure of the Pecs allows the humerus to move in a variety of planes across the body.

The Pectoralis Minor muscle is located underneath the pectoralis major muscle, attaching to the coracoid process of the scapula and originating on the middle ribs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Functions The function of the Pectoralis Major is to bring the humerus across the chest. A flye movement is the best example of this action.

The Pectoralis Minor serves to move the shoulder area forward. This can be seen by shrugging your shoulder forward

the point here is that you can not work the "inner chest" because it is not a muscle unto itself it is a combination of the major and minor pec...meaning that in order to work the "inner chest" you have to work the whole chest to get it to grow...you can not specifically go after the inner chest..

remember the larger your chest the more "cleavage" you get too..you cant have cleavage with out a huge chest not gonna happen..

I never thought that I had "cleavage" before. But I guess for lack of a better word that is what it is called. I have been told that I have a nice rack and I could not stop laughing.

I know the inner chest is not a muscle unto itself, and I understand what you are saying. Makes sense. I just always see stuff in magazines from pro's like Culter and Coleman talking about workouts that can focus on specific sections of the chest mucsle. But yeah, I totally understand what you are saying fellas...point taken.
Peace.

hey athikots, we're (or at least i am not) trying to bash you this is all about learning here. i too am an advid magazine reader but those w/o posted by the pro's are just designed to sell there mags that it. i use the mag's for a few things:
explination of nutriants--fats, carbs, protien--as long as there not product specific i read them.

recipes--some of the best recipes imo can be found here

exercise discription- most are very good at this

some routines--not the BB ones or the challenge you to a better body shit ones, or my personal favorite add 3" to your _____ name the body part you want to grow, but--things like 5-10-20 program, use of chains, alternate ways to use asmith mach., etc.

basically with magazines you have to wade through all the bull shit in it to find the actual usefull stuff..look at them in the stores before you buy them..some times there good other times they suck ass..most guys here will point and laugh at ya  for using mags but there are some good uses and tips in them none the less.

mate, i'm not saying you are retarded :insane2:

you are right that the chest consists of pec major, and serratus(to an extent), but it also has a muscle called pec minor which probably makes up more of the chest than serratus ant.

think of a muscle as made up of long thin strings of muscle fibres, which inturn are made of little myofibril units. Each individual unit can contract a little bit, but cannot contract on its own.

therefore when all the little myofibrils contract, the muscle fibre contracts, the muscle contracts as a whole.

Since as you mentioned previously,(and correctly) that there are no inner pec muscles, you cannot contract or specifically train the inner pec area.

i hope this helps. Also don't believe all the garbage in muscle and fiction and flex magazines

for sure!

Man I have learnt heaps from hanging around the training section on this board and asking questions. Once upon I use to believe that flyes and pec deck trained inner chest. :goof: :goof: :goof:

Its great having vets and Mods here that have had extensive experience in BB and PL

I like to think its a beaver with a big sack. But it probably is a Tanuki, considering the little Asian boy....or girl...that is "wowing."

Where did anyone get beaver from, it looks a lot more like a racoon.

You can't isolate your "inner chest."
