Types of sugar

I've been using Glycoload from Optimum Nutrition and noticed that it's comprised of Dextrose, Fructose and Maltodextrin.

I've read some of the other posts regarding Maltodextrin. What is the rate of absorption compared to Dextrose? How about the fructose?

I've also been using grape juice post lifting. What sugar does it contain, Fructose?

I'll take a shot since you got no answer at all. First part I can't speculate, but bear with me as I make my point and try to correctly answer your second part. First I'll say that I think grape juice contains dextrose. Here's why: I've read that creatine is best taken with dextrose and I also always see grape juice listed as THE recommended fruite juice to take it with. So it seems to me that it likely is dextrose.

Malto is actually considered a complex carb, but has a GI the same as dextrose. As well, malto is not as sweet as dextrose and does not mix well.

Grape juice contains a mixture of mainly dextrose and fructose. The dextrose will suffice pwo in replenishing muscle glycogen and giving you a insulin spike, but the fructose will not because fructose is utilized by the liver only to replenish it's glycogen.

i've heard fructose is a good choice for pre-workout, but for post workout a dextrose only, or a dextrose/maltodextrin blend would be optimal.
