unusual deadlift question

lately, while deadlifting, the bar slips out of my hands on like the 3rd rep of my sets. this is not due to grip strength but due to my hands being all sweaty. now, i do not want to use gloves (unless i have to) and i don't have access to chalk or anything...any suggestions?

Talc powder? Have you used the over-under grip?? If you dont want to use gloves, you could also use some paper towels or a towel (thin hand towel) under your hands...

i use the over-under grip. But if you wanna bigger weight get straps I can add 50 pounds extra too my dead.

I would go with straps if you are having trouble holding the bar. When trying to blast your back with deads, you shouldn't have to be worrying about your grip.

I am with easto on this one...i use straps anything over 315 on sets and maxes...i can always train forearms seperately and hands for grip, but i can focus more on the back and making a correct form lift without having to think about my hands and or grip...

i used to use straps and still do on my last set, but i have found that an over under grip with a little chalk does wonders. I was having the same problem you are at one time.

you would be amazed how much more weight you can do.
W/o straps I can dumbell row 100*8 w/ straps I do 110*8, so straps are very worth it. Medal hooks are better.

Fuck straps. That's a crutch that's only going to hinder your grip development.

Find some chalk. You can get it at any decent sporting goods store. Look online if you have to. It's cheap.

thanks for all the advice bros. i do use the over-under grip, but i was thinkin.... my left is over and my right is under, maybe i should change it up since it's my left hand that gives up...gonna try that towel idea first though..
i'm gettin' some chalk and straps too, yeah fuck it i'm gonna try everything :D

Could try No-Chalk Sticky Tape (it's a yellow square about 6"x6"), guys used it at my old gym. I avoid straps until needed but have really gotten the over-under technique down; was always told that the weaker hand should be under, works for me.

Also you should be setting the weights back down onto the ground and waiting a second before you start your next rep, you could just take a little extra time and whipe off your hands, that's what I do.

I'm 125% with you on the straps issue bro. Fuck 'em. I never used them from the get-go, and because of that I have the grip of a python. The over/under lock grip is the way to go. A good piece of advice though is to switch the grip every once & awhile. If you go under with the left(as I do), then maybe the next routine switch it. You can develop unevenly in the trap area if you don't. I usually do my lighter sets with the grip that I would NOT usually use, then use my regular one as the weight gets heavier.

Also(to ICEMAN), bro---How can you not have access to chalk?? It's like 5 bucks for a bucket full. Do a yahoo search on "Weightlifting Chalk". Stock up bro!:D

SkedMedz makes a good point about the switching of grips to avoid uneven trap develop. Speaking from experience, am now trying to play catch up with my left trap, damnit!

hey bros once again thanks for the replies! i tried switching my grip, went left under right over instead of the other way around. felt really awkward at first but the bar didn't slip out of my hands.

skedmedz; funny you should mention that, 'cause i found out that there is a store near me that sells chalk (the only one in the area) so that issue is covered as well :D
