Using insulin needles to pin?

I went in last week for my regular 3 month urologist visit. Blood works looks great as it has for the past 18 months now.

The question of the high end of my range came up again - which it always does.

My total T was 1788 ng/dl and that was 4 days after I pinned 200 mg of Test C.

My urologist again suggested that I break up my 200 mgs Test C shot into two separate weekly pins of 100 mgs on Monday and 100 mgs on Thursday.

I have been against this suggestion because it is literally an additional "pain in my butt."

I started thinking about it and I asked him what if I pin twice a week like you suggest but could I do it using insulin needles in the shoulders as opposed to a 23 g needle in my rear end?

I told him, look I am very lean and I wouldn't need a big pin to get IM in my shoulder.

He had never considered the idea and said, I don't know let's do some homework and find out.

So, my question - anyone here ever pin with insulin needles?

Tell me your results.

I've never done it but I have read at T-nation about guys that inject Test Subq with insulin syringes. I'd be interested to hear feedback as well. If I remember correctly they usually the pull out the plunger and fill them from the back with an 18g or something similar.

Cashout - I'm not experienced with this, but my wife administers my injections as she is an R.N. over 20 years experince. She took one look at the 29g insulin needles that came in my package and basically said no fkn way. She injected my test with a 23g needle and going forward she will be using the 18g. It took her a relatively long time to push the test in using the 23g. That's not to say it can't be done, but the test cyp seems fairly thick.

I use a 23 g now and it takes a split second for me to push my test c in through that pin.

Wonder why she had difficulty with a 23 g pin? 18 g is like a hose pipe! Ouch!

In the past few minutes I've read quite a few threads elsewhere with folks using insulin pins to administer their oil.

Okay, I'm going t give this a try starting today.

100 mg on Monday and 100 mg on Thursday with an insulin pin to the shoulder.

This is being done for one reason...

My urologist wants to see my top end levels stay around 1500 as opposed to 1800 and he says that my bottom end levels will also come up some from 900. So we are looking at shrinking the variation during the week. I'm okay with that.

Now, I'm going to use insulin pins to do this purely for comfort - I'm not an Internet tough guy and I actually don't like sticking myself. Call me nuts! I really wouldn't care to do it twice a week with a 23 g needle.

Will report back.

Cash I use 25ga x 5/8" long pins for shoulders and 25ga x 1.5"long for glutes.

The 25ga dosent hurt a bit and the time it takes to inject is still pretty quick.

I would look into picking up some 25ga.

No shit! I have to administer my first injection Wednesday and will probably use the 23g. I don't think she had difficulty necessarily, but her training may be telling her "thicker liquid, larger needle".

If you try the insulin needles, let us know how it works.

I use a 18g to draw and I use 25g needle to pin my quads. Literally don't feel it! You can clearly see the muscle, it's a large muscle, you can do inner or outer and move the needle around, just don't pin in the fold, it's terribly painful! I tried the 33g insulin needle and it's a fight to push the oil through that small of a hole. 25g works well for me

I've used slin pins for my testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) injections for the last year and a half. I am pretty lean and have had no problems whatsoever.

I use 1/2" 29g pins and do delts and lats primarily with occasional quads. I have never had a problem with lumps or pushing the oil through the pin, but I also warm my test up before injecting.

as a long time reader of t-nation, and have had a lot of advice from some pretty knowledgeable peeps from over there, i can tell you that most advocate using slin pins as opposed to the bigger needles, dr. john says to use them, the matrix over at anabolicminds, and ksman over at t-nation have all told me to pin with slin pins!

i tried it once, my quad hurt like hell for a week, and i felt awesome and that was only 100mlg!!

(then my nurse fell out laughing hysterically and so did my emt buddy saying it wont have as good of an effect, so now i use 1.5" 23 in the cheeks,)

I AM FINALLY STARTING TO SEE SOME RESULTS FROM 200 and have gotten some acne, and bigger arms and shoulders already!

the wife, my bro-in law and a few others have noticed a deffinet change!

i am going to do 200 1 last time this week then switch it up to an every mon/thursday protocol to see how it does,

1 question is now that u r doing a 2 x's a week injection, what will you do with ur hcg injects? sunday/wed split? thats what i am going to try.

I dont think inner quads is a good idea. There are a ton of large veins in the inner quad! you asking for trouble mate!

Update - just pinned 100 mg of test cyp in shoulder. Absolutely piece of cake!

I used a 29 g 5/16 inch 1/2 cc insulin pin.

I backloaded it with another 23 g just to make the draw up from the vial quicker.

For now, I am switching to 100 mgs test cyp 2X per week (Mon/Thur) and we will see about the blood work in a few months.

I'll follow up on this question when I have a little more time but right now I am pinning my HCG once a week on Monday.

I think that a change is in order I just want to do a little more research and I need to get another test run first.

ok for now u are going about what? 750 iu of hcg on monday along with a 100 mlg test shot? then thursday a test shot of 100mlg?

yup t-nation is where I learned about the slin pin method and I don't think I'll ever use anything else on cycle.

The barrel diameter of the slin pin is so small that the pressure applied to the plunger creates quite a high PSI allowing much faster flow.

I bet the 1/2cc pin would be even faster than the 1cc that I use because of the increased pressure from the small bore. How long did the injection take?

Yes - has been 750 iu every Monday. I may very well drop HCG all together.

I am discussing this with my urologist and we are researching a couple of things first - the big one is the potential for 200 mgs of test cyp administered weekly to produce a azoospermia condition - i.e. I am looking at this as a possible form of male contraception.

I am 41 and I have two happy health boys - I don't want any more.

I used the slin pin method- draw with a 23g, backfill the pin and shoot into the delt for a while. This worked well when I was at 100mg a week or so.

The only problem that I have run into is that even at 2 pins per week if your dose is a bit higher (like mine is now) the pins are too small at 1ml. Plus the fact that 1ml of cyp thru a slin pin takes a while.
