Thank you guys. I got my labs:
LH 8.8 (1.5-9.3)
fsh 6.3 (1.4-18.1)
prolactin 6.0 (2.1-17.7)
estradiol 16.4 (10-42)
ferritin 139 (25-388)
test 171 (300-1080)
free test 43 (47-244)
shgb 14 (11-80)

Only my testosterone and free testosterone were out of range!?!? My doctor wanted me to take clomid or hcg to try and restart my system. I tried to take clomid for 5 days (50mg) but I had terrible headaches behind my eye. Why would my doctor want to give me clomid or hcg for that matter, if my LH is normal, and on the high end?

I have never used anything but a vitamin or protein shake. I am 40 with two kids 5'10 200 pounds. I have all the symptoms of low test, but I don't have any ED (thankfully). Thoughts??????

Your numbers look a lot like mine did 2 years ago when I started HRT.

My LH and FSH were both in the upper quarter of the normal range my E was at the lower end of the range and my Total T had fallen off by 30% over of a consecutive 3 year period from the lower 900s to 579 ng/dl.

I had no answers in the blood work as to why it was happening although I knew it was affecting my overall health and well being.

I started get colds and the flu about every 3-4 months and in my adult life that never happen - ever.

I started losing muscle mass and it got harder and harder for me to maintain my razor sharp mental focus.

I never really formulated an answer for why my T levels kept dropping. At this point, I attribute it to a downward spiral of over training - also something that I was never able to do in my youth regardless how hard I pushed it in the gym.

That is what finally prompted me to go the Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) route.

Now, I do understand the clomid although I did not do that application prior to starting HRT. Your MD was trying to test your sensitivity to an increase in LH and FSH to see if it would elicit a proportional from your testes and ramp up your natural test production. Really not a bad move at all.

At this point I would assume some additional blood work would be in order to determine the effect of the clomid and your overall sensitivities.

Cashout, it says that I need to spread some reputation before I can give you any more. LOL Your info is better than any Dr. that I've ever talked with. Like Mopar said, you nailed that question.

Looks like primary hypogonadism if I'm not mistaken. The problem is with your boys not your endocrine system. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm off base here. That being said I don't understand the script for clomid either.

Thanks all

That is kind of what I was thinking as well. My doctor wants to now try Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) only right away and see if that will work. Will I have a better chance of restarting the boys with that as opposed to clomid or am I just wasting time?

MD is following the proper protocol in implementing a step-wise process to test each of the various sensitivities associated with the HPTA.

I'd suggest you follow through with it. You may be better able to determine a root cause of the problem as opposed to just treating the symptoms long term.
