Very Depressed After Receiving Total Test Level Results

I got a test done because I was having a lot of symptoms like brain fog, fatigue 24/7, trouble sleeping, sometimes I would lose my hard during sex. I am not sure though because it was my first time with that specific woman and could have been nervous. Hard to concentrate and get things done!

Here were my results...
Testosterone, Total, LC/MS 416.7 ng/dL 348.0-1197.0 BN

Just an FYI I took this test at 4 PM...Also I am on a cut of 1800 calories. Even when I was on a bulk though I felt the same symptoms.

I am going to get a doctors appointment but I am not sure how to bring this up with him. I took the test independently out of curiousity.

I have been lifting for a year with nothing to show for it as well even though I have improved form. I am on the PHAT program working out 5 days a week and lifting as heavy as possible. I was making great gains intially but I have hit a plateau.

I am also 22 so 416 is a crazy low level...I know total testerone is a useless test and I need other things checked.

I am not keen on jumping on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) but I am told that there is probably a reason for my low t. And I may not need testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and be able to get those levels up. Is this a reasonable expectation?

I just feel awful...I don't want to live with these symptoms anymore.

Talk with your Doc...tell him all your symptoms..he should order the test for you. Those levels are low for a 22 year old...quite low really. Maybe he will refer you to an endo. It is possible that there is another underlying reason why your levels are so low and that is why you should bring this up to your doc asap if he doesn't mention getting you tested then you will just have to bring it up that you already did it.
With levels this low I feel bad for you and it is no wonder you are having the problems that you are having. If you do end up going on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) then I would suggest you do injections. Try to push for weekly injections. Most regular docs want to start you off at 200mg every two weeks...which is fine to start off with but push for 100mg weekly instead...your levels will be much more stable this way.
I really hope there isn't a more serious underlying condition here...but this is why you should go get it checked out asap, so you know.

My mother is on synthroid I wonder if I have a similar problem with my thyroid. My problem is going to be I am low but not low enough for these doctors to be willing to help me. I will find out when I go in but I think I am going to not get any help on this...

Seems kind of hopeless

You could have a similar problem with your thyroid then...I would look into this asap. Maybe this will get your levels back up and going.
As for your levels not low enough for your doc to do anything...they should be low enough but if you really don't think so ...there are ways to make the reading a little lower. I know guys that actually wanted to go on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) because of similar situations as yours and one guy stayed up all night then they took his blood work first thing in the morning. Usually your levels are at the highest point when you first wake up. I know another guy that was so hard up that he did a cycle of gear...then DIDN'T run a PCT and had his blood work done about a month later and he also stayed up and didnt sleep then had bloodwork.... I AM NOT suggesting any of this I am only sharing the stories.
What I suggest you do is find out what the real underlying cause might be. If this runs in your family then you should have that looked at for sure. If you even mention this to your doctor and tell him about your mother then I couldn't imagine him not running tests on you. Good luck to you..keep us posted.

Being on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for life isn't as fun or as cool as guys think it is. If you can get your natural test levels back up and running on their own this would be the absolute best route!

Thyroid problems are very common in middle-aged women and fairly uncommon in very young men. My mother has thyroid problems also, but hers developed well after mine did. It's just much more commonplace.

This is not to say that you don't have a thyroid problem, mine was diagnosed in my late 20's but probably started falling off in my early-mid 20s. Anyways, just tell your doc the symptoms and ask for a blood panel. I asked them to screen me for diabetes and found out my thyroid was fucked.

Were you put on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) or were they able to give you medicine for the thyroid that fixed your issue?

Also what would you guys do in my case? If my doctor tests for low t and the numbers come out in the 400's again he definitely won't take it further. Someone else suggested to tank my levels so my doctor is forced to take it seriously. I really don't want to be on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) but I would rather do that than be in this situaton.

I heard sometimes HCG therapy works to restart things...

I don't want to go to the doctors without getting all the facts together. Also knowing what direction to push the doctor...

My thyroid is now somewhat regulated, it improved my daily life a lot. Did not give me the energy back that I once had (it's supposed to), but each person is different. At least I got my short term memory back.

I am not on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), I only just went in to get my levels checked last week. Mine are around the same as you, so the same boat. However, I have no clue what mine were before I got on thyroid drugs. So, you're ahead of the game. Regulating your thyroid (if it's a problem) may get your T in check.

I would prefer to get my T levels to around the 650-700+ range. I don't know if that is possible naturally...

I hate these stupid ranges that mean nothing...I have the test levels of an older man!

How do you feel in general now?

First, your total T number is worthless because you took it so late in the day. Get blood drawn again first thing in the morning.

Second, you say that you hate these ranges but you are basing your problem off the numbers in those ranges! Talk to your doctor about your symptoms. Never mention testosterone and let him/her track down all the possible causes of what has you not feeling well.

I wouldn't worry too much about those numbers right now. Most important would be to see your doc and tell them what's going on, in as much detail as possible. One thing I learned is to not go in expecting one problem or treatment, you could have any host of problems that are making you feel like shit. You could also have had an abnormally low lab, meaning maybe you have these symptoms from some other underlying cause and you happened to see low-normal T levels on your first lab.

If you have low thyroid function then I feel for you, there's pretty much nothing you're going to be able to do about it except medication for life. It's very uncommon for people to get off of thyroid hormone once they need it. Some folks do really well on it, I know several people who really feel like it changed their lives. For me, I still have fatigue and some other issues that I walked in with, that's the reason I started looking into my T levels. But, it did make my life better overall.

Thank fucking god...what can I do to further increase my test levels? Also the free test turns into estrogen so what do I do about that?

Nordic11 said it best.

Your complety normal. With a free test over range, your going to have a hard time getting your body to make more total free when it already has too much free. Eat right and exercise. This will make everything better for you.

My T came in at 720 naturally, nothing more than a multi vitamin. I am also not the best when it comes to sleeping 5-6 hours I consider good. So I am sure with some good diet and good sleep I could have maybe put them even higher

You had your T tested at 4:00pm, correct?

Do you have any idea how much it fluctuates during they day?

This is an overstatement, like many in this forum, but if you aren't taking a T supplement in ester form then your levels vary A LOT during the day. Natural T has a half-life of hours, not days. It is produced when you sleep and then depleted during the day. And it is produced best when you are in peak health, are not stressing your body, and are not overtrained.

So though you have had your T tested I don't believe it is in any way a good indication of what your body can produce in a "normal" environment.

You say you are training five days per week and lifting as heavy as possible. My recommendation is that you have a week of relaxed 70% training, sleep very well, eat very well - and then get a full blood assay done first thing in the morning.

The easy training week may give your body the rest it probably needs, and I will bet your T levels will be way higher.

And if I'm wrong then you will at least KNOW where you stand.

On the other hand, if you want a low T score - some need one for medical/legal reasons - then stay up all night prior to the blood draw, treat yourself really badly for a few days prior, overtrain, don't give your body a rest, and drink booze. (Worked for me. Scored 46.)

My level landed at 250, i decided to do a full panel myself since I was suffering massive brain fog, slow reactions, no boners, depressive thoughts without being depressive, no energy at all, fatigue, atrophy, losing weight and simply just feeling off! I aswell do feel like a out dried old man, HECK my levels are fuking lower then a 80y olds!

Im waiting to start TRT, I am going through a fucking WAR just waiting on these retarded doctors! As they tell me to go home and just wait for a month they aint sweattin it, but im the one just slowly being broke down by this fysiological problem wich translates into mental aswell! I absolutely have NO LIFE at these levels, and the faster they return to high! Ill be able to work, school, girls n life again.

It sounds seriouse and it is. This low T is affecting my whole personal to a major degree, i am disembarked from my personality wich is fitness as a job and hobby! I am not going to take their shitty low amount and taper up, ill rather do it the other way and feel like a beast and then take it from there! You have to sort out your problem aswell mate, cuz this thing aint healthy
