Weird Question about abs

I have a weird question about abs training. I am about 6'3" 230lbs and I predict a body fat of about 12-14%. My abs are clearly visible, but the linea alba, which is the verticle separation running down the middle of the abs, from the midline of the chest to the belly button, seems to be missing on me. My abs just form solid horizontal ridges, not separated as you would expect. My question, am I missing some workout to bring this separation out, or do you think it is just body fat preventing me from seeing/even feeling the linea alba? Thanks...

first, maybe (emphasis on maybe) you're not really low enough bf (for you're body) to see that vertical line, i mean everyones got it, just gotta bring it out, keep cuttin bra, you'll see it sooner or later, keep workin hard, cut a little on the diet and harder on the cardio every day, and see if im right, if not, hunt my ass down

hm

I disagree I recently got a bf test done and I am sitting at 6%, I too have the horizontal lines, but lack the vertical line. I have wondered the same thing many times, it could be just development, my abs are clearly visable, but I am hoping that more intense training will yeild the vertical split. However the 8/6 pack is given its shape by the tendons running along the abdominals, perhaps the tenden is too weak to 'cut' the abs into that split.

I would like to hear more on this, (but intelligent feedback).

I talked to a friend of mine today, personal trainer, who suggested increasing the intensity and throwing in decline cable crunchs. Really load those abs.

genetics play a large role in how abs look and at what bf% they will pop out obviously. you do have the linea alba and i think that if you lower the bf% to 8-10% you will see the separation you are wanting.

I dont think 12-14% on most people is lean enough to see that, especially if you are 14%.

yeah, i went and did underwater weighing today to figure my bodyfat...I'm 9% instead of what I thought was 12%. Still can't see or even feel my linea alba! I dunno what it is? Maybe I'm just a genetic freak and ab muscle has grown over it!
