What do you do for work...when you're not lifting?

I'm curious what you guys do for a living? What does your work week look like and are you satisfied with it all?

I've been working in a contract position on a project and will lose my job within the next year. Unfortunately, the job I'm in doesn't offer any contacts, and I have virtually no experience that would translate into a career in any other field.

I'm sort of the jack-of-all-trades but master of none, and now with the economy shot to shit and thousands of people more qualified than myself looking for work I'm not sure what will happen.

It would be cool to hear what you guys do for a living...

I was laid off for about a year. The past 6 months I've worked at an electronic engineering company. They design circuit boards and other controls. Basically what I do is, assemble electronic controls for bakery ovens, used in panera bread, pizza hut, dunkin donuts and other places. Involves a bunch of wiring according to schematics. Was kinda lucky 2 friends worked there a few years and got me a job. Very easy work environment and best part off all, I usually sit on my ass all day and can actually eat all
day whenever i want to.

I've been working at a grocery store for the past 14yrs, and have been grocery manager the last 4yrs. Mostly the graveyard shift at 50-60hrs a week. The good side is I won't get laid off, everyone needs to eat.

I too work under contract for a Canadian company as their National Sales Manager here in the US selling large component water treatment equipment to municipalities and companies. I love to travel and the job offers plenty of that plus they leave me alone and just let me do my job. It's like not having a boss.

A word of advice: I would be nowhere within my industry if it was not for contacts. I highly advise doing something to get connected!

full time fluffer.

part time personal protection.

The 2001 film The Fluffer was about a young man with a crush on a gay porn star who is gay for pay. A 2003 release also entitled The Fluffer was a four-minute short comedy film.

Were you in any of these?

I had to look it up:

Urban Dictionary: fluffer
(noun) a person in the adult entertainment industry whose job it is to give male porno stars blowjobs in order to get them ready to perform.

Urban Dictionary: fluffer

Well then, that explains the stretch marks
:yumyum: and chapped lips

I did own a franchise but had to let it go ... now I manage a pharmacy (and no no no it has nothing to do with gear) - I also have my own business but it's not my main income.

In my field of management I've done all the hiring for around 15 years and I can tell you I hire most people - "when I'm not hiring."

What I mean by that is - if I've just had someones resume or application in hand - I would have not hired them in most cases.

Most of the people I hire are the ones who come in and introduce themselves and make a good impression - and it's usually when I'm not looking to hire anyone.

Oh - when I was in my early 20's I was a repo man for a while ... Hence - the username repo.

If anyone has any questions on how to win over the interview please feel free to pm me - I do have a lot of experience in this - from ground up to the executive level.

The best advise I could give is to make face time in the place you want to work ;)

Ew - I hope there was a second meaning on the next page or something!!! :chomp:

I buy pretious metals, gold, silver, platinum and diamonds.. I have 10-15 jewelry store, pawnshop and antique shop accounts in which I go around to once a week to purchase scrap metal. I then melt it down and get paid upon purity. Great business, but expensive to get into as golds $1,400 an ounce right now.

Thats really cool - the franchise I use to own was direct response advertising so I would meet with business owners all day - it was really cool to see all the different business that most people would never think of.

If you ever have a chance I highly recommend looking into Jay Abraham - he's the best marketing consultant IMO alive today ... but he has done some brilliant work with the rare gold coin industry.

I have a book from him that he sells for $1,000 - I didn't pay that - but I wouldn't give it up for $10,000.

Cool biz numba1 :)

Talk about nice jobs for the most part lol.

I was a replen lead for warehouse stock, then lost that job when a new boss came in. Spent a nice year jobless, and I am still paying for that...will for years...beign 24 and being this screwed over is fun XD

I am currently in the ITAD(Information Technology Asset Disposition). Started off manuel labor, ended up testing printers, then testing PCs, then became senior tech, now I am going into their "pc repair" debt. All that in 1 year with raises of course ;) Next stop I want to go into their management team. Currently training for NASM certification, my desired field is fitness/supplement industry and I WILL make my stake in that field in the coming years :D

So your like those "sell your unwanted gold via mail" dealer except at the local level. Very cool and interesting. No one cares about water (my business) but there are some interesting things out there to make a living at.
