I do not use nutritional supplements. when I was a kid I used protein powder and bcaa, but now I prefer not to use. What do you think? are really useful? if you take them while on steroids or during rest periods?

they have their place... so long as your priority is whole foods first.. whole food is king..

thanks for the answers. then I am not an expert in this topic .. give me some help on what supplements should I take, how and when should I take them?

It would depend what exactly we are classifying as "Supplements". No2 and the preworkout craze is garbage in my opinion. Whey on the other hand has it merits. With that said I see to many people relying on the latest fad supplment or diet stratigy.

The only supplments I use regurly are; one a day vitiman, whey Iso (1-1/2 scoops post workout), Creatine Monohydrate, Niacin and DHEA.

My biggest issue with the supplements industry is that it is unregulated and the manufactures make claims that are totally unrealistic while using professional bodybuilders indorsments. The fact is most of the third party testing results I have seen on things like Whey show that the protein content is lower than stated on the nutrtional panel and most include heavy metal contaminates.

Lets face it; it's a multibillion dollar industry that is self policing. Everyone has a magic number; you know the number where you will out and out fuck somebody. In my business it's $100K most guys are pretty honest up until it means putting $100K in there pocket after that they will skull fuck you, cut your head off and hand it to your mother with a smile on thier face. Now, think about the numbers in the supplment industry and as long as people don't start dropping dead you can say anything.

To sum it up; most of that shit is snake oil bought from China for pennies a pound and labeled with a flashy sticker a couple pie charts later its sold for dollars an ounce.

Whole foods are king. Save your money on the bullshit and buy more grub.

Just my two cents.

I fully agree, so I do not use supplements and do not recommend them to those who ask me advice. I opened the topic to compare with non-Italian bodybuilders

I've always wondered the same thing. I took Metabolol II chocolate flavor faithfully 20 years ago. Since then, being a skeptic, and watching Ronnie Coleman eat his chicken, I prefer real food ~ chicken, fish, turkey, beef, and pasta fagioli.
The way I see it is: take the proper regiment of whole food, with a proper diet, with your cycle. Then take the same cycle, with the same food regimen, and add the most popular supplement regimen. I doubt you will see much of a difference.

Best Regards

It really depends on your goals. If improved endurance during a workout is important there are several supplements that do a good job. Beta-alanine, L-citrulline, and Creatinol O-Phosphate (COP) all have some solid scientific evidence behind their claims to boost endurance during activities of mid-range duration (5-40 minutes). For strength it is widely accepted that creatine monohydrate supplementation is a worthwhile investment. Replenishing nutrients immediately after a workout has also been demonstrated to be a good idea for improved recovery times and maximizing the "anabolic window". Although post workout re-feeding can certainly be done with real food most people find it more convenient to down a whey isolate protein shake and/or BCAAs on the drive home and during preparation of a real meal.

Others are mostly or completely bogus. There's not a single "fat burner" product on the current market that is worth a penny. All of the good stuff that actually worked has been banned and is no longer available on the retail market. If you have to go underground for "fat burners" you might as well just go with clen or T3. Same with all the "testosterone booster" -- complete bullshit and unnecessary for almost anyone actually looking to use them. If your test numbers are actually low then go get some blood work done and have a doc write you a script for test cyp. Other than that, if you're hell bent on raising your test levels there's no reason to piss away hundreds of dollars on bogus products that, at best, marginally boost your test levels. You'll spend less and get much more effective results actually running a cycle.

Lol I don't get what Italian body builders have to do with this please fill me in? I apparently missed something.

Honestly I think supplements are great. A lot of people hate supplement companies because they over hype the products and lie about them. Saying that certain products will give you 10 pounds of muscle In a week and what not. But I can say from experience and studying about supplements for a long time that there are a lot of helpful products out there. I personally notice a very big difference when using a Bcaa drink while working out. I also enjoy pre work out drinks for the euphoria and extra kick of energy and pumps. I think that all the different types of protein out there can be very use full for meeting protein requirements for the day or just for a quick something to help to keep the muscles fed before sleeping.

Obviously when compared to steroids they are nothing special. But for a natural bodybuilder they can help tremendously. Also the effects of certain supplements can be amplified by steroids. I mean protein and amino acids will definitely be used more efficiently by the body when taking something like testosterone in my opinion compared to if you were just natural. Honestly I just believe in using every single edge you can get to attain the physique you are after and supplements can help a person attain their goals quicker. I would say though that if some one never missed a meal and had everything perfectly calculated when it came to nutrition workout supplements wouldn't be needed as much. But it is almost unrealistic to meet those daily requirements for some people. Vitamins and certain health supplements though are essential in my opinion for optimum growth and health. I have personally noticed a difference after taking NAC I use to have pains around my liver and they disappeared. I have no idea how they disappeared but I don't get the pains out of the blue anymore. A certain knowledgeable member and his essential supplement list made me realize what NAC had to offer :).

You could also do invitro.

Don't make a baby the "traditional" way it's counter intuitive.

*Wrong tab and wrong thread :P
