I like turtles.
Okay, I think I see where this connection is made as it's actually the ACTH that limits this conversion, which happens to reside in the pituitary gland. Once the ACTH requirement has been met, and cholesterol is in abundant supply, the hormones are cleaved like many other steroidal hormones. As Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) has a profound ability to "wake up" the pituitary, this does make sense to me. Sorry, just woke up from a nap - so if I'm a little all over the place, forgive my rambling.Lh, or its active analog agent Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG), activates the p450scc enzyme which is principally responsible for converting Cholesterol (CHOL) into Pregnenolone.
When we suppress HTPA via exogenous Testosterone LH production is seriously compromised. This is what many Doctor's don't consider when they suppress HTPA and don't supplement with HCG.
We need the conversion of CHOL into Pregnenolone as it's a pro-hormone and responsible for every other hormone in our bodies.
While I do like a lot of Crisler's works, I don't really like the automatic conclusion that it's the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) increasing libido as an increase in LH = increase in testosterone = increase in libido. I've never honestly used Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) as I, like Megatron have no desire for more children and could really care less about the size of my testes - so I cannot say for sure or not if this would work in a suppressed male. You state that you've seen a lift in libido, are you on TRT? If you are, are you primary or secondary? I feel that this matters as some secondary folks may have a pituitary that has gone South for the winter. The Preg labs that are out there are wildly inaccurate that's why most AA Doc's don't order.
Preg is found mostly in tissue not is serum is the biggest reason why.
DHEA-S is a better lab to measure as it's converted from Pregnenolone.
HCG without question acts on the brain. It's why many men claim a real sense of well being and satisfaction when they initially begin with HCG.
Some men, myself included, had a nice lift in libido as well so it's working on the neuro-receptors.
Dr. Crisler has a patient who went daily 150 iu Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and only than did his libido kick in. Crisler recommends daily doses now of HCG
Read his paper on Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) it's one of the absolute best I've read on it: http://www.allthingsmale.com/word_docs/HCGupdate.doc
Supplementation with Pregnenolone is nothing like natural production and some men just don't metabolize supplements well.
We need the conversion of CHOL into Preg and only an LH analog like Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) will do that; we need to support all the other hormonal pathways as well.
It looks like I might have to revisit this topic once again for homework as I may have closed the book on Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) too soon. Libido isn't an issue for me, but I would like to enjoy the benefits of a fooled negative feedback loop, giving me those essential hormones. I just hate the compromise of an extra variable I have to chase about when it comes to E2 and possible complications. Not to mention the cost of the stuff due to all the retarded dieters thinking a hormone made from urine will make it safe to consume less than 600 calories a day. Ugh....
