Lol I'm not big into strength training. Much rather size but the repeated question is how much do you bench? Even talking to non-lifters it's one of the only exercises they are impressed with. So the question is ... How much do you bench?
Share your 1 rep max!!!
I'm no power lifter - mines 325lbs 1rep

I think bench is over rated.
Someone who can row, deadlift, squat and do weighted pull ups and dips probably have a
More functional and more developed physique

Now I'm guilty of really trying to get my bench up but honestly my chest grows more with my bench free chest routine (incline, decline, dips flys and pullovers)

Good call Lou and I agree but none the less it's still the most widely known for strength. I have to say weighted dips are probably my favorite exercise though!! Feels great slapping plates under you

If I had to pick one tricep exercise it would be wieghts dips
Nothing pumps them up more

So whaddaya dip? I'm kind of stuck at 45lbs, maybe just because I don't like clanking noises.

I do two 45's for 6-8 but I drop it back to one after 2 sets. Then I can get a full 12. It's fun adding weight to it man! Haha you feel so heavy

415. Was thinking about pursuing 500+, but my shoulder labrum has other ideas.

Now it's crossfit (minus the homoerotic kip pullups) for a change. Then 3J's workout, then back to 531 once the next cycle hits.

Will do. I ran doubles last year with high volume every other cycle of it. ---> 5/3/1-5/3/1/Deload etc so no deload the fourth week (my deload weeks are high volume at 50-70% anyhow, I don't do it right), 7 weeks of 5-3-1 with usually the regular suspect accessory exercises and some Big But Boring in there, then all high volume the second run after core exercises.

Really love that stuff, it's not really that novel, and I hate hate HATE notebooks but had pretty much linear strength gains on 531 singles and it went geometric with doubles. Tren E/Test E capped with Halotestin helped as well lol.

Well, dont lough. Bench is 225lb, deadlift is 425lb and squat past the knees (deep) is 325lb. These maxes are very conservitive. these are my training maxes for the windler 5-3-1.

Bench max estimate is 275. I hit 225x11 slow control reps
Deadlift before it hurt was 495
Squat before got hurt was 315(always stayed light with good tempo and ass to round sqauts never had leg strength)
Not sure about overhead press but I do 135x8 after bench and incline and dips so possibly more if did fresh

Are u a powerlifter?
I cak decide lol that's why I loved wendlers 5/3/1 bodybuilder template
Mixes power on core lifts and hypertrophy on all others.
Best of both worlds

I wanna get bigger but I hve learned tht getting stronger helps
Progressive overload IMO is most important
When I just did every workout to fatigue and hit failure not worried about the wieght I didn't grow

I am not a competitive powerlifter or bodybuilder, no. I am a gym rat who played competitive sports for ~30 years. I prefer to be strong and big and cut. That's a crazy pyramid to chase, can't have it all usually. Gear helps. 531 is a great program as a base. Shocking the body every few months is crucial to growth of any kind, cannot do the same thing over and over and over or you just go into homeostasis.

PS according to Wendler Math 225*11*0.0333+225 = 307 estimated max on bench for you. I always used whatever you can bench 10 solid times, add 90-100 pounds and that should be a one rep max for you.

Might want to try 305 at some point, it feels good to break those 100 pound barriers.

Obviously 5/3/1 is great for strength increase, but is it also a great mass builder? I need to shake things up and am not seeing results because I have hit a plateau.
