whats the best hardcore gyms u guys been too!?

Years ago traveling for work I used a Gold's Gym in Del Paso Heights, CA.

Crack infested, pimp POS ghetto ass fucks and hookers everywhere offering $5 blow jobs. The gym was all serious hard core MFers looking like a Competition was close, they were big, and shredded and total assholes.

I fit right in.

Another one was in Dallas Fort Worth TX near my Hotel. Everyone in there was jacked, even the cockroaches were On Tren and slin'n it.

Lifted for awhile at a YMCA. Gym was in the basement. Not a single machine to be found - the closest thing to it was a preacher curl bench. Lol. Not too many young guys in there, though I was maybe 30-35. Bunch of guys from about 45 and up. Old muscle.

hahaha sounds crazy!!!

My ex's father was a powerlifter in CT for quite some time and held some state records when he competed. He had a gym in New York that I went to once. It was a Friday afternoon, so I didn't see too many guys, but there was a local high school football team training there.

Chalk, barbells, dumbbells up to 200 lbs. and 100 pound plates were everywhere. I never saw a hundred pound plate before. He also had a monorail for squatting. This guy Brendan was there squatting that day. He was 23 at the time around 280 and about 5'11. Dude squatted 900 pounds for a single. 80's metal was blasting, her dad was screaming at me during deadlifts to the point where I wanted to cry. And he pushed me so hard on deads that I almost shit my pants. There was also a board with writing on it that showed who had the bench, squat, deadlift, etc.

3day s ago i trained at the weight room at a marine Post in north Carolina...bad fkn ass.

8 years ago in new Zealand in a basement gym in Auckland under a warehouse with no a/c...

Home gym, at my previous residence. Nothing but free weights. Rusted dumbbells, bent barbells. Some of my best workouts were held in that basement!

Yeah I lift in my basement too and got some badass equipment, squat rack and loads of free weights with dumbells going up to 155 and I would never trade lifting in my basement for going to a commercial gym with a bunch of phaggots playing lady gaga. But what happened to your gym!?

Bev Francis Powerhouse Gym - New York

also
This small hole in the wall dungeon which has all steel and olympic weights, chalk dust everywhere, all kinds of chains, 200lb + dbs, pwlfters and juicers only. no cardio equipment. i was in heaven. its in the ghetto. your car isnt safe when your training LOL.

Parts of it are still there. Still at me relatives place. I just didn't have enough equipment. Not enough room. But yeah, nothing beats that kind of setting for working out no doubt! As much as I stayed focused and in my zone while working out, they'll always be something that distracts at gyms.

"USA Gym" in Bridgeview, IL. 15-20min outside Chicago, in an industrial condo complex. They've got the 2 sets of the db's that go from 5 to 155lbs. Free weights and machines. (Some of the equipment is made by hand). 5 treadmills, 3 ellipticals and 2 stairclimbers. And no AC. It's hot as Hades in the summer and cold in the winter.

I've trained in some cool places and certainly some shithole dungeons (Philly with clear plastic duct taped over broken windows - ancient equipment) but I don't really classify that as hardcore.

In no particular order:

FSU's S&C Complex

A few garages with full power lifting setups including monolifts, Glute ham, multiple reverse hypers, one of Louie's old belt squat machines.

A basement with a guy who used to lift with Paul Anderson on the York Barbell team back in the day. Gets invited to the Arnold by Arnold himself every year. He was really old by that point and his equipment was right out of the 1950s but we did some pin presses, squats and pulls. He must have been late 70s or early 80s and called it taking his iron pills.

Trained in another garage with an OL who could put 450 overhead from behind his neck.

Used to do cleans and snatches in college Saturday morning at a friends house. I'd carry the equipment outside and set it down in what was a flat barren spot in the backyard and start lifting. He and his frat brothers would gradually wake up and come out to watch and enjoy a morning beer.

Personally I've trained in enough dungeons that I'd assume have something nice and some decent girls to look at (married but I can still look). What makes a gym or anything hardcore are the people. Love a competitive and collaborative atmosphere. It only takes one guy to show up on the ball and it motivates everyone to do their best. That and AC/DC + Def Leopard.

My gym is pretty hardcore.

2 monolifts
4 power racks
2 hyper extension machines
2 GHR
Elite FTS belt squat, mondo leg press, pylo swing, and power squat machines
Every barbell you could want, safety bars, texas dl bars, squat bars, cambered squat, buffalo bars
bands and chains galore
More 100lbs plates than you could ever need 4 times as many 45's
no 2.5lbs plates
dumbells up to 220lbs
Best part about it is that its private and only certain people get in who are serious about lifting. Don't have to worry about dumb asses as were all friends.
