1st appointment - Urine sample

OK fellas,

I've got my 1st appointment with a urologist regarding commencing testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) next week... in his letter (as well as informing me of his extortionate rates) he has requested that I take with me a urine sample...

I'd just like to know why he would want this when he already has my blood test results...?

Any ideas?

Sounds very strange. Im in Australia, things could be different....

i only had to get bloods done on 2 separate days to confirm i had low T, then i was put on treatment.

When he did your bloods, did he check liver and kidney function?

Do you have anything to worry about giving a urine sample? I have asked a little of questions and given no answers i know. This sounds a little strange to me. If you have nothing to worry about i wouldn't stress...

Nope, nothing to worry about, other than running a Test/Eq cycle which finished 10 weeks ago... I ran a PCT for 6 weeks (with no joy) hence my visit to the doctor for blood tests...

I've been suffering ED and loss of libido for 2 years now - it only improves when I take Test... I decided I need to do something about it and my blood tests proved that my Test levels were very low, as I expected... my doctor agreed with me and referred me to the urologist....

I know if he is a thorough doctor that he will test everything, prostate, pituitary gland, sleep apnea etc etc - I was wondering if the requirement for a urine sample was for this purpose?

Well over here, they tested everything.. But this was all done via blood works. Maybe your Doc is a little sus that you are jacked up, but have low t. This is a new area for me so i cant really advise. I know there are some very knowledgeable members who will chime in and offer some good reasoning behind it so be patient.

How were all the other readings? Im sure one of our resident experts may ask you to post your results so they can analyse the information and come up with some form of reasonable explanation.

have they put you on any form of treatment as yet?

Here's the blood test results...

Serum testosterone - 9.3 nmol/L (Range 9.4-37.0 U)
Serum oestradiol - 112 pmol/L (Range 40-161 - Median 84)
Serum LH level - 5.4 mIU/ml (Range 1-9)
Serum FSH level - 6.2 mIU/ml (Range 1-14)

As for other treatment... he put me on Testogel sachets for 2 months - which were absolutely useless and then he gave me a month on Cialis 5mg daily (again, not great) and then a month on Cialis 10mg daily (slightly better, but nowhere near good enough)...

I got so frustrated I ran my own UGL test cycle (with my GP's blessing), to kind of prove to myself that it was Test that could put me right... this proved correct... I ran an aggressive PCT in an attempt to restart my natty levels, but to no avail...

And here I am now.... I'm guessing I suffer from secondary hypogonadism... but that is just a guess...
I'm praying that this guy is up to date with testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and isn't stuck in a timewarp - I'm doing all I can to educate myself on the matter BEFORE my appointment - so he can't pull the wool over my eyes...

I believe the Testogel is just the normal protocol to be followed. I got the same. Just started it 3 days ago. You wont get results straight away. it may take a few weeks. Injections are the way to go but as someone stated to me "you need to jump through the hoops first"

there is a couple of good guys who helped me out.. Dre and Halfwit. Look out for them my man, they are very knowledgeable when it comes to TRT. There are others of course but these 2 gents i have personally dealt with and know there stuff. maybe see if you can PM one of them.

Yep, I've already touched bases with these two fine upstanding gentlemen... and Megatron has been extremely helpful too - I know I'm in good hands... that doesn't explain the need for this damn piss sample though lol

I'll just siphon the python and be done with it!

I have never heard of a doctor asking someone to bring a sample, you would think if they need it they would ask you to give one at their office.

Don't forget Megatron, that fine gentleman has done more for the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) section than myself or almost anyone else.

Megatron.. I deeply apologise.

As i am new to testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), i'm yet to work out the who's who.

I use to pop into the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) section once in a blue moon and think to myself, shit i hope i never end up needing this forum.

Strange how things work out. Now i spend most of my time reading and researching how my new life is going to be.

It might just be a protocol for that Dr.
I mean he is a Urologist lol
So they deal with all the functions downstairs :)

I don't help out in the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) section nearly as much as you do, that's quite alright Mega. :). Plus I might be on a short list to get banned so don't waste those reps on me lol

Why would they ban you? We can't afford to lose another good guy. Send me a PM if you prefer.
