am Cardio vs pm cardio

Was just wondering how much of a difference it is to do cardio on an empty stomach in the morning instead of doing cardio at night .

I usually eat 1 hour before the gym or take a shake . Is there a big difference ?

Also .. i read that muscle bouncing from jogging or running can make u lose muscle mass..

So is it best to just fast walk around 5-6 speed for 30-45 minutes 6 days a week for cutting ?

Fast walking is for old ladies. You need to sweat buckets.

Not sure if there is a difference in am pm cardio when it comes to muscle but fighters often run in the morning to keep them from staying up late and get there blood pumping early on.

Late jogging will make it harder for you to fall asleep. If you cant sleep you cant build muscle and recover as well.

On the other hand an early morning jog can spend precious energy needed for your weight training.

i can count 3 things that are wrong with this post. Ithink i politely asked you to stop giving advice when you don't what the fuck you are talking about.

1. Sweating has nothing to do with losing BF%. Some people don't sweat alot. I do. Does that mean I lose more BF than them? NO BF% loss has to do with heartrate.

2. If i do cardio at night, versus not doing it, i sleep like a bear. How can you say late jogging will make you stay up? You can't.

3. Morning cardio can be a refeshing start to your day and actually INCREASE energy levels for most throughout the rest of the day.

Please try and refrain from giving advice unless you know what your talking about.

OP- in my opinion, the difference is not a whole bunch so that most would notice. Most people think 10% is ripped, which it is pretty lean. If that means a competitor can get to 5-6% by doing AM cardio insteead of PM cardio, than by all means yes it is better. But you can still burn BF% efficeintly if you only do cardio in the evening. Even moreso if you do both. :D

I'm not sure I understand this part. Are you saying you can't get to 5% - 6% bodyfat by doing evening cardio?

no. what I'm saying is that if its just a tad bit better to do AM cardio instead, so maybe you can reach a lower competitor-level BF%, than you would want to do that.

But i think for most people, either or is fine.

thanks alot RH .. awesome advice !! ill just do them at night then since i fall into hibernation after that :)
I wouldve done bother .. but ill have to start in 6 in the morning before work .. and i go to the gym around 9 at night ... Ill be to tired and wont have enough sleep .

Thanks again !

....and to add to RJH...
I ve read that when you drive your metabolism up by extended cardio..your BMR stays higher for the REST of the day..until you fall asleep at night, at which point we re-boot our sytems, release GH, reset our brain s with R.E.M. etc.
I believe the differance is slight, but if I jack myself up after, say 7 or 8pm with cardio I don t sleep as well.

exactly. again, its all relative to that person and what they feel is best for them.

i personally have a hard time getting up at 330am to do morning cardio cause i have to be at work so damn early. Of course, i am still of the though that diet is 95% of it. Too much cardio = fucked up diet.

What about the "muscle bouncing" theory i mentioned (losing muscle mass) .. Is it true and cardio should be done mostly speed walking ? or is it tiny details we shouldnt pay attention to and just jogg/run as much as possible ?

well, that theory is retarded, lol

But, i wouldn't run if you wanna burn fat. Too hig of heartrate. Just a brisk walk at 3-3.2mph on a slight incline is fine.

I don't appreciate your demeaning attitude.

Moreover, you aren't the oracle around here. You've got some strong opinions but that's pretty much all they are. All the points you made are debateable.

I perceive his comment about sweating to mean that he recommends higher intensity cardio for more effective fat burning. I agree.

I also agree that doing PM cardio may interfere with sleep. It has interfered with mine. I can say it just like that.

I also agree that doing am cardio may reduce the amount of energy available to lift weights later in the day. For this reason, I generally avoid am cardio on a day I'm going to train legs.

I agree with the AM workout to burn the most amount of fat. Also, I'm one of the "non-sweaters" and it doesn't matter how much I sweat...I can look great, doing strength training and have a low BF and not sweat in the process.

Non sweater huh!?!?!?!?

I would love to have reduced sweat gland.
I consider my self to be in decent shape.
Every cardio session I remove a 3 pound sweaty shirt.
No matter what shape I am in you will see me sweating enjoying some ice cream in an air conditioned room.

If you want to be serious, why not go for twice a day?

I tend to train at night, but excitation does interfere with sleep, its a fact. This includes late night television watching as well, if you want to get crazy.
