Any folks here who train grip strength?

I try to train grip pretty regularly . I keep heavy grips in my truck all the time.
Wondering if anyone else Notices huge changes in your grip strength from day to day?
Some days i can do 10 reps with 250lb resistance. other days i cant even close it once. Am I the only one?

I have some of the ironmind stuff... captains of crush grippers, rolling thunder, hub pinch, etc.

I'm not that strong of a guy, so I'm just competing with myself. I can close a #2 CofC with both hands. I can do a couple of reps with my right hand on a good day.

Seeing how easily (or not) I can close the #2 gripper definitely tells me how strong I'm feeling on a given day and it does vary quite a bit.

Glad I am not the only one. It definetly plays with your head to see grip strength go up and down so much.

Working on getting to 4 sets of ten with the CoC #3.5 myself. Can't wait to play with the #4. I'm of the firm belief that you're only as strong as your weakest link. I'd like to deadlift over 700lbs again some day, but without really great hand strength, I'd have to use straps well before that point.

Besides, it's always fun to have a guy shake your hand and squeeze hard to show you how strong he is - then make him cry when you return the favor. :wiggle:

My .02c :)

i do brazilian jiu jitsu.. i have gorilla grips because of it.. havn't met anyone yet who can easily break my grips lols

I'm dependent on 'versa grips' -- only grips that work for me. And they DO work well for my situation.

Short temper anger issues I've punched too many things in life - flexer tendons in right hand have come unraveled and I can't grip or make a fist - hand surgeon recommended 2-3 rebuild and graphing surgeries to get 30% more use back.. Screw that, 3 surgeries for that little hope.

I'll just punch things with my left hand now and be dependent on grips in the gym,, heck get way better isolation especially on back day with grips

I like their construction and gnurling helps keep them in your hands. They're a pretty good deal for the cost.

Same thing I thought about the heavy grips. Not a bad price at all for something you can get so much use out of. Might have to look into a set of CoC grips and compare the two.

#3.5??? Wow, I'm deeply impressed. Did you get certified on the #3? Only 11 people in the world have officially closed the #3.5 gripper and only 4 the #4.

Nah, I'm just a gym rat. That and don't you have to pick up some plate contraption to get certified? Seriously only 11? Wow lol, I didn't think it was until the #4 that shit got serious haha.

jesus what is the resistance on the coc's?

Never mind :( just came across this and crushed my dreams.
HG150 = COC Trainer
HG200 = COC #1
HG250 = COC #2
HG300 = COC #2.5
HG350 = COC #3
HG400 = COC #2.5
HG500 = COC #4

Personally I've never really got involved with the whole grip strength thing, and yet my forearms are huge and look gnarly when I'm ripped....

For me, my grip only needs to be strong enough so that when I train my back, my back fails first... and it gets stronger and weaker the better my back is.

I totally understand the importance a strong grip makes for martial arts etc- but lifting iron is all I do, therefore my grip is sufficient for bodybuilding.
