I play football for a jr college. I'm a FR LB (6"4 245) I tried it today and made 18 reps which sucks compared to the nfl guys. I know it must be a dumb question since you guys are mostly body builders. I'm just curious If anyone every tried it an what was your best?

if I lockout completely i can like 4, but touch and go with no lockout 12. My friend who does lockouts does 20, but he cant do touch and go.

with a strong grip i am probably good for 315 from 11-14 depending on how much rep work i have been doing. You do the math. I don't know how to compare.

Jcp you'd probably be up in the high 20's to low 30's i bet I have a friend who does the same reps on 315 and his best is 32. My best is 20. But these guys change their whole routine and find combine guru's to help them learn all the tricks and work purely on the combine tests. So I bet most people could add at least another 5 reps if thats all they trained for in just a couple of months, if not more.

I'd compare yourself to other FR LB's, because the NFL guys tend to some of the more ELITE ATHLETES ON THE FU*KIN PLANET!

What are you talking about 95% jr colleges have D1A athletes that didn't make grades. And there is some D1 athletes that are stronger then a couple of nfl starters. Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, Brando Jacobs and a shit load of other players all played in jr colleges.

Yeah I just finished my last season playing ball at the D2 level and signed a year deal with an arena team outta wisconsin. My best was 225x39 which i feel is probably one of the stronger outta all the onlinemen in D2 football. as far as you doing 18, thats pretty damn good for a freshman. i think when i came in i did 225 for about that, maybe only 15-16. if you really train with some intensity you wont have any problem getting over 30 reps in a few years. the biggest thing i notice in 5 years between the players that were very successfull players and players that were just average was that the ones that realized playing football at the college level meant you had to focus 365 days a year were always great players. some guys get a mentallity that when the season is over they are doen working and when summer rolls around you you dont have to do dick. Your offseason training is when you make your gains and is what depicts your performance the following year. I always had the mentallity that when i wasn't working it gave the other guy time to get better then me (sometimes my academics showed this). anyways good luck on your career, enjoy it because its the best 4-5 years you'll ever have.

I really don't think he was knockin you being a Jr college player, i think hes just wondering why at 18-19 yrs old youre comparing yourself to NFL combine players that have been training for 4-6 more yrs then you. though I've seen plenty of jr college players from some of the better jr colleges in the nation (glendale, joliet, couple california school) come into the program after being a great jr college player and fall flat on their faces. most of the jr college guys ive met were ones that didnt work real hard in the off-season. not saying all we had some great ones, but some get a big head after playing at the juco level where it seems like players are either great (D1 flunkies) or guys who just wanted to keep playin after HS and had a bunch of great players around them at their juco which in return made there stats look a little better.

ya I think its over rated, doesn't prove much unless you do absolutely terrible if you get close to or above 25 you are ok. 40 is a little more deppending on position and then the most important is position drills and agility drills. Change of direction is probably the most emphasized aspect of the game today.

Im transfering to a DI school in the fall and I havent tried to max out on 225 but when I workout my chest I include 225x15 as my second warmup set, so im probably somewhere in the 20's
