Its seem that allots of people on TRT ( or steroids) are constantly thinking about how they physically feel or look. Is your happiness level dependent on your next blood work? You are who you keep seeking.

I hate to break it to you, but if you don't have a measure of self-pride in your appearance, nobody else will either. This sad truth extends beyond the drive for sex; it has been proven many times that those which are more attractive are also vastly more successful in life.

I do not find it healthy to try to be someone you're not, however there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be the absolute best version of YOU to present to the world.

This is something that I have personally experienced; going from 500lbs at over 50% body fat, to 315lbs at around 15% body fat. Job interviews go better, you receive more respect from peers, and you get better service at restaurants. It's just a fact of life.

My .02c :)

Completely agree - Being overweight and generally unfit makes you looks lazy / sloppy. When interviewing someone - the idea is if they don't have the drive to take care of themselves, will they have the drive to do well / go above and beyond working for me? Keep in mind this isn't the only factor when hiring someone, but does play into the equation. I've hired plenty of overweight folks who do a great job.

I myself was a little overweight (by like 2 lbs). I starting training harder / eating clean and dropped 5" from my waist and added it to my chest. I was walking down the hall at work the other day when an executive walked buy and mentioned the noticeable change in my physique.

I'm a professional and appearance / first impressions are everything. Sometimes you only get one shot...

Losing weight and getting fit for your health is a must but doing it to get acceptance from others is not the best way to go about it.

How is it seeking approval if someone offers an unsolicited comment?

Freaking out? No where did I state I was freaking. The way big corporate insurance works is they up your premium if you are overweight, have high cholesterol, etc. According to my height and weight I was considered "overweight" by my corporate insurance. I did not feel overweight and thought the whole thing was BS.

When I say I was overweight, I'm simply stating facts that were given to me.

Those "overweight" labels they put on ppl....
Don't take into account that ppl who work out or are athletes have higher BMIs...
They don't take into account lean mass.

It's an unintentional benefit of wanting to better oneself. We all conform to societal norms whether we want to or not. It's those that intentionally fight such norms that end up ostracized; even if they don't know it.

This really has nothing to do with wanting to be accepted by others (at least on a conscious level), it's more about how the closer one gets to attaining "perfection", the more problems they see. Yes, this is a psychological issue that is very common as many develop body dysmorphia. What I'm trying to grasp is your angle on this issue.

Why do you pose such a question in the first place? Are you merely trying to understand why folks would intentionally inject hormones into their bodies for the sake of aesthetics? Or is this something more of a different nature?

Adrian Peterson's BMI puts him in the obese category. Fatty... :-)

That's what I'm saying...
The BMI chart is completely flawed!
however it can reflect a certain extent of accuracy in a sedentary person...
If you been in the gym a while...
You should be assessed differently for obesity.

I agree but will pose a thought from "the other camp"

Critics argue that BMI is what it is regardless of body comp. How? The claim is the heart has to work harder to vascularize the extra tissue whether it is fatty or muscular. They argue that extra muscle is actually harder For the heart to vascularize versus even fat. Do I agree or have data on this? Nope. Just relaying a discussion I had with a very skilled surgeon on the matter. He actually wasn't convinced either but stated the counter argument to the Michael Jordans or APs of the world who are obese according t BMI standards.

Crazy huh? Def interesting fodder

I don't know why BMI is used at all anyway. It's a formula that's hundreds of years old; and while you're right in that a larger muscle mass does require a greater demand on the heart - the heart will be in better shape (usually). HUGE difference between a 200lb man at 40% body fat, and one at 9%. They need to do away with such a silly metric that is costing me free points on my insurance company's "bonus rewards" program. I train 7 days a week, know my macros down to the gram, and don't drink - yet, the guy that sits across from my lab that's skinny-fat with an alcoholism problem and eats McDonald's every day gets the points. Doesn't make any sense to me at all.

im no where close to obsessed with my body...

seeing as how i myself am a former fatty i thank each day im healthy and dont need to strive to look ripped year round lol
