I had a sports injury and had to have a total hip replacement 4 years ago and have not run anything since then but I want to get back in it. I am scared shitless to inject with the horror stories of infection with a replacement. Any feedback on this is much appreciated guys!

Thanks

Hey heater81, i also had a hip replacement mine was in 2008, crazy shit huh.

About 5 weeks after my surgery the Doc put me back on my medicine which is a Subcutaneous injection.

In June of this year my Endo put me on Test E injections for TRT. Like you i was also scared shit i was going to get an infection due to the Hip Replacement, however the doctor said i wouldn't have a problem with that since it's been 3 years and im all healed up.

But she did say as a precaution not to inject into the quad where the Hip Repl. took place. So i have both of my deltoids, left quad, and left glute to inject into.

Hopefully this answers your question, remember always take extra precautions when doing IM injections.

The risk of infection is associated with the surgery and recovery. There is no additional risk to infection of the artificial joint by pinning AAS at this point in the recovery process. If you had an abscess in the muscle group near that hip there's a chance it could spread and infect the joint but I think the risk is minimal. Just always use safe injection practices and you should be fine.

Sorry about your injury man, life is brutal and at 24 I already have some really bad joints/injuries.

I think the best advise given is do not touch that leg(quad or glute to be honest). That leaves the entire other side, plus delts. With testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) dose you can even manage a few other muscles.
