My workout partner went to the seniors in vegas to qualify for the WPO semi's.

He squated 935. 3 white ligts. 2nd attempt he went to 985 and blew out his knee.

Bench ended up at 606

Somehow managed to deadlift 705.

Total 2250. Qualifying total 2300.

In practice he squatted 975 easy and deadlifted 700 for a double RAW.

Bad times.

I don't know how bad his knee is hurt but the term "blew out" was used. I let him know. He comes back Thursday.

Talked to him today. He said he opened with 935 and got it no prob.

Then he went to 985. He said he went down with it and on the way back up his knee bucked in ward and made a loud popping noise. He said he though he brtoke his leg. THe spotter shattered his hand. The knee sweeled. They wrapped it as tight as they could and he basicly straight legged the deadlift.

keep us posted on his condition if you would. i hate tose any athletes get injured.

is he scheduled for an exam?

I'm hoping we can influence him to get it checked out when he gets home. He thinks a month of rest will heal it. I don't think he realizes what can hapen if if heals wrong of not at all.

That's a tough pill to swallow. Please convince him to get it checked out. They need to rule out ligament damage and/or meniscus problems. He needs to take care of this now so he can ensure many more years of happy lifting.

solid advice doc.

Watched it happen. They announced during the meet that he didn't lose any fingers but was still in surgery that night? Your buddy looked like his knee just gave. Hope he recovers quik and smart. The video should be out in 2 weeks for all to debate and haggle over.

btw everyone push551 broke his arm at the seniors while attempting a bench. he's also a world class bencher in the 198 class division with a 600+ bench. you go bubba. get healed up and come back strong.
