I'm sure it can't hurt, and many people through the years have believed squats help development and strength in other areas - but I don't believe there is a direct correlation. That being said, the body will sense imbalances and possibly inhibit development because of it. There has been study showing how even having a stronger neck will trigger bigger numbers almost everywhere else too (curls even).
Better balanced than not, but will bigger legs alone work magic - probably not for everyone all the time.
Yes, old thread but was doing some research on this topic and found this. What do u guys think. Squats for arm growth?? Experienced fellas with some decent arm size, your thoughts appreciated.

Don't know about squats but I've been hitting arms every day with one other body part and I've seen some decent growth since I started this my thoughts are mix heavy low reps light high reps Fuck the cable machines off use free weights and close grip bench builds awesome thickness

check out Ben Pakulski , he has some of the best legs on the Olympia stage , but the worst arms on stage.
hypertrophy only happens in the muscle that is receiving the stimulus and has receptors activated for repair/growth .. unless your loading so much weight on the squat rack that your arms are getting a workout doing that , then there is no biological correlation.
note: there is however a whole body hormonal correlation. Exercises such as heavy squats can stimulate nervous system responses/adaptations, hormone production, growth hormone, etc. that can positively effect the whole body. Because the metabolic and homeostatic stress is so high with legs (being a large muscle group with core activation) as compared to other muscle groups. BUT that hormonal and nervous system response will not directly effect arms.
can it make you over all stronger and better sure. increased natty test, GH, and better nervous system firing is a good thing.
but for guys that are taking exogenous hormones . there is not benefit to this additional hormonal response that heavy squats can give
as some of the guys mentioned above , training FREQUENCY is one of the most important factors for arm growth.
arms are a smaller muscle and need a lot more frequency then larger muscle groups.
depending on your training experience. arms can be hit up to 5 days a week (to everyday depending on training methodology) where as legs are better with high volume lower frequency , like 2-3 days a week.
also there is some truth in arm size in relation to overall body size. IF you are say 5'10 200lb and have 16" arms , do not expect to train your arms to 20" , without putting on say an additional 40 pounds of overall body weight.
<--- so in this idea, getting a bigger everything is beneficial to getting bigger arms

I work arms 5 days per week as well. I had issues getting them to grow for years or at least like I wanted them too. I watched a you tube video with CT Fletcher one day and got hooked on this crazy fucker. He talked about how it was impossible to over train arms and how he worked them everyday for years. I am definately not saying that it is not possible to over train them but if I am they are growing because of it.
As far as to training legs to make your arms grow, I can tell you that when I started lifting(over 20 years ago), I didn't train legs at all. I did this for 2-3 years. When I started squatting and dead lifts, I got stronger on every single exercise that I did. With that strength came size. My traps grew, my shoulders grew, my back got thicker and yes, my arms got bigger. My point is, those core lifts make everything grow.
Good to hear the gains are a coming brother! Good form you bro. Keep it up!!
So I gotta ask, when u work arms are they sore the next day?? U know from fiber trauma or whatever the technical term is these days. Point being, I've always heard that you want to let the muscle heal up some before blasting it again. But if your making progress on this ideaology, Ct Fletcher training, then I want to understand how it works. I'd love to give this style a go but every time I have the next day soreness makes me hesitate because of what I previously said...about fiber trauma and time to heal. Or Maybe is it that you don't train to the point of next day pain?? Lift lighter more reps?? Thanks for any insight n this bro.
I know you're question wasn't aimed at me but I just don't do the same lifts for arms every day but I always start of heavy low reps to light high
And I don't know about you but my arms never really get as sore as the other body parts like compound lifts if I bench one night no way I could do it again the next day or of I do legs I couldn't back it up but my arms always bounce back and don't nearly get as sore as legs chest or back they still get sore but just not as much so Fuck it smash em lol
Blake when I'm doing curls I always hear ct screaming in my head Grow!!!! Haha. And also my arms recover very quickly even from an intense arm workout. I feel like it's because your arms are used indirectly in just about every exercise that they have built up the ability to recover faster than other body parts. Just my 2 cents. Good topic
