Blood work and esters

When concerning a lab draw up for testosterone, will the numbers show only detected testosterone free of the ester, (specifically cypionate) or does the esterized test show up too. I can't imagine it would just based on chemical structure alone. They don't go in looking for testosterone cypionate.

if u are asking if a particular ester will show up. no. like everyone else said, its just test... but a lab can tell if u r injecting it. but not because of the ester.

Alright, so I've talked to a few other guys I've known for awhile and who are pretty educated in all things anabolic, but I got mixed reviews. I'm only reopening this one for a definitive answer. Otherwise, we couldn't tell what was cyp and what was actually useful to our bodies, and that's all we really should be interested in. Also, can test cyp (ester still attached) bind with SHBG? I feel like that would mess the bond up somehow.

I've been thinking, and I'm starting to wonder if the ester really wouldn't be detected. Lets think about this guys, the machine is looking for the the shape and formula of testosterone, once it sees the testosterone, it counts it no? So if cyp and enth are essentially testosterone, who's to say that the machine doesn't see the testosterone formula, disregard the ester and count the testosterone? I'm assuming there's not someone there to catch that YEAH, IT'S TESTOSTERONE, BUT NOT EXACTLY SO DON'T COUNT IT. My 0.02 is that the machine would count the esterfied form as well.

The point of an ester is to delay the absorption of the hormone itself. I promise you that a lab cannot identify your testosterone that is still esterfied as I remember blood results while starting testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and they were something like 250ng/dL followed by 436ng/dL even though I was injecting sufficient testosterone (esterfied) to reach far higher levels. I haven't looked into why it is this way, but I would imagine that esterfied hormones have a completely different wavelength than that of the pure hormone itself. I'm sure a specific drug test could identify this, but that's well out of the realm of a typical blood test used to determine blood-serum levels.

My .02c :)

damn you always make sense buff spongebob. I'm paranoid lol. I get to questioning everything when I can't figure out what's going on. Currently I'm at a loss for reasons as to why I feel shitty. I've been told my t3, IGF-1, vit D, and B12 all came back normal..thus maybe dismissing a lot of what I thought could be the issue. Honestly, all hormones are in check, so far no vitamin deficiencies, and I haven't been losing weight..HOWEVER, joint pain when flexing, which I find weird, cramps like fucking crazy, literally after everything I eat almost. Still not carrying near the muscle mass/tone as I did when I felt healthy.
Lab wise, the only things that have seemed to come back abnormal are my alk phos, cholesterol, and CO2. Not sure what the link is here, if any. The most abnormal thing about the cholesterol is how low it is. Terribly low for what I should be..like I'm talking a total of 90, and when I was "healthy" my cholesterol was about 130. I eat eggs, steak, burgers, etc on a daily basis, so I'm not lacking it in my diet. Two options..malabsorption of fats, WHICH would explain my issues with hemmroids as fat malabsorption has been linked to this, OR liver issues which could explain the elevated alk phos and would result in a decreased production of cholesterol..although my liver panels are mainly normal AST, ALT albumin, and bilrubin are all good. Can one be celiac without any major vitamin defeiciencies? I have yet to look further into this possibility, but these cramps almost seem as though it could be.

I totally know where you're coming from as I spent a long time wondering wtf was wrong with me too. This of course was before I had ever thought about testosterone deficiency, and I had tried nearly every damn supplement on the market too. I'm definitely not a doctor, but I think you're on the right track if you have an abnormally low cholesterol and from what I remember a big cause of that could be a flora issue in your intestine. I don't know if celiac is your problem, but I bet you do have some sort of digestive system issue going on.

Have you tried pedialyte for the cramps? That can be as simple as an electrolyte imbalance which can also be caused by a malabsorption of nutrients from food. I remember another guy on a different board having the same mysterious issues only to find out he had some sort of bacterial issue in his colon that was mucking things up. Maybe it's time to see that proctologist.

Good luck man, nobody should feel like crap all the time. I truly wish you the best. :)
