Can you still do push ups and sit up when lifting weights?

Can you still do push ups and sit up's when lifting weights? I use to do push ups every other day or every 3 days but now since i am lifting wights i am too sore to do them the day of. The same with Abs I use the ab machine at the gym. How many times a week should i work my mid section? I try to mix it up as much as I can when doing all muscles.

For myself, I do pushups between sets of dips and at the end of my chest routine - ill do pushups till failure. No need to do them on an off day, only when your working chest. For Abs, when im bulking i do abs once a week and no more... when im cutting leading up to summer i do abs 2-3 times a week to tone them up.
 
You could wear a weighted vest or put chains on your back in an x pattern to increase resistance. You could also use pushups as a finisher for chest and go until failure. I'm not a fan of situps with the traditional hands behind head method because of the stress it places on your lower back and neck. Unless you're training for a PT test for the military I would either not use hands to jerk the neck or pick another exercise.
 
dam pushups between sets Im just getting rid of the lightheadedness and catching my breath to try and go again props to you xeno
