Clomid for long term use, other questions

rowdybrad

Welcome Wagon
I went in to the doctor today to talk about my latest results after I took clomid 100mg for 10 days and got my test level from about 330 to 679.

He said because my test, LH and FSH all went up that it shows my axis is working when it is stimulated, but my testes were not producing their optimal level of test.

He said that means it is something that treatment is right for.

He then said he recommends taking 25 mg of clomid a day and it will have a cumulative effect. I told him I didn't think clomid was a long term therapy and I was concened that my levels only went to 679 on 100mgs, so will they change on 25mgs? he said it would be cumulative.

He said I could try test, but he wanted me to try the clomid. I told him i was concerned because my brother had puffy tits during puberty and they lasted years, so i was concerned about gyno and mentioned arimidex and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG). He didn't know anything about Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) being used in conjunction with testosterone and when I mentioned arimidex or gyno help he said he thought I was reading about stuff to the side. Kind of like I was talking about steroid usage or anti aging stuff as opposed to proper HRT.

Anyway, does clomid work for the long term? He gave me a prescrition for a years worth. The lack of knowledge on arimidex and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) isn't good either.

He is a general doc and great at the other stuff, but I think I need a pro's help.

I think I know the answers here and am preparing my info for Chip.

I never read about anyone on long term Clomid treatment.. How did you handle the side effects on 100mgs per day? Did you feel strung out? I read about guys having to quit their post cycle therapy (pct) protocol because of the nasty sides

No. I did get a slight bit dizzy for a little after taking it, but it could be gabapentin or busbar that I take for anxiety and a nerve injury I have.

I didn't notice anything else.

Well, congrats on the clomid working so good!

It good to see guys on this board considering alternatives to TRT.

I would guess you are fairly young, and you obviously tolerate clomid quite nicely, which leaves only a few issues:

One is the long-term safety of using clomid in an off-label manner. I'm certainly no expert, but I really can't recall much in the way of adverse studies.

The other is whether you will eventually develop tolerance to the drug, which I believe has been reported.

Finally, there is anecdotal evidence that you may not enjoy all of the libido enhancements and stimulation that testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) brings even levels around 700 ng/dL.

I did only notice a slight increase in my mood and libido. I am still very unmotivated and have no energy. A couple days after my last pill I had an ache in my left nut and my balls went back down to their "normal" size. The normal size is half of what they were up to 19 or so when I got my vericocele. I had an intense ache until I started wearing very tight underwear for support and my nuts shrunk up. Within months I went from 170ish up to 270ish and suffered horrible depression. I barely left my room for around two years, except for fast food, movie rentals and work.

I believe the vericocele is the reason my testes dont work quite right.

I am finishing up my paperwork for Chip and Maximus. I am not wanting to go another year with low test and I dont expect that the 1/4 dose of clomid will make my test levels go up any higher. I recently started getting daily panic attacks and anxiety non stop.

If Chip gets a second I would appreciate his input as well.

That is one of my worries as well. The thought of it working less over time and that the level it would get me at would not be enough to lift my mood and all the other symptoms enough to feel normal again.

I have filled out the stuff from the Maximus site, scheduled for a physical with his form and am using my own recent tests.

I have total test, free test, prolactin, estradiol, sbhg, fsh, lh and tsh done already and have requested a cholesterol panel and psa test to be done.

I am missing two things that are on the labcorp test panel that maximushrt links to for the bloodwork. Does anyone know if what I have is enough or do I need the CBC and Cmp as well?

Trying not to bug chip as much as I can.

Thanks man.

Turns out I think I had CMP test. My doc said he did a test for blood sugar, but I also did another one where they checked my electrolytes. It seems one of those was hopefully it.

The CBC I'll also get done.

Thanks CJW

yeah bad doctors give chip a lot of business. my doc wanted me to wait and see if my test levels would float up to the normal range on its own. im only 27 and IF i ended up at the low end of the normal range id still be wayy low for someone my age. he wasnt treating me, but my bloodwork. like if having low 300s is OK for anyone. dude didnt know about Aromatase inhibitor (AI) or Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) either. kept telling me if i do testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) ill be very high risk for enlargement of the prostate, liver cancer, prostate cancer, gyno and on and on. the fact that he could diagnose me with hypogonadism and then tell me to wait another month so he can see if my test would go up ever so slightly so that i would be in the normal range.... Just so he could say nothing is wrong with me cause im in the normal range. that shit pissed me off bad. i even told him its effecting my marriage and my job and i dont want to continue to feel the way i do didnt change his mind about waiting another month. he would have put me on a bad protocol anyways. glad im with max Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) now.

I am excited about getting on with chip. What levels do you normally aim for, top of normal? Top 1/3 of range right before next pin?
