Core training while on a cycle

I'm 2 weeks into a cycle of Test 400 & Decca 200 for 12 weeks, plus D-bol 35 for 4 weeks. I'm 52, have done some oral cycles before, first with injectables. 5'9, 165#, 19% fat.

Got a free introductory workout with a new trainer who suggested core training (the routines with a lot of balancing and using multiple muscles at a time).

I just changed my workout to a 5-day split to go with the cycle. Chest/Back/Thighs/Day off/Shoulders & Tris/Calves & bis.

Has anyone out there done or know of someone who did core training rather than a more classic routine while on a cycle?

I was thinking the core training could be a good change/shock to the system at the end of the cycle.

core training is fundamental. you should have been doing these long before you started any cycles. they are the main exercises that induce growth and strength all over the body. squats, deadlifts, stiff legged deadlifts, pin pulls, etc. also these are accessory: glute ham raise, hyper extensions, good mornings, ab workouts and many more that others can probably chime in and tell you. they focus on your low back and abs.

What you're talking about is what I would call basic or classic training--squats, leg presses, benches, etc. I'm talking about the newer concept of core training where the concept is to strengthen the abs and some of the back muscles. Trainers have their client on one of those 1/2 balls with a solid surface. The client has to balance since the bottom is round. Then they have the client do various exercises, i.e. squatting down (no weight) and standing up, or bicep curls, or lat raises, or some other movement. The weights are very light because of the balance component.

I dont see any need for that kind of training and it couldnt surpass the results from the basic training. with you being on a cycle, i would stick with the basics and what works although to each his own.

That's what I figured, and that's the plan. I was thinking the new-fangled training might be something to try post-cycle when I'm losing some strength. Anyone out there who ever tried this new-fangled concept while on a cycle? I'm old fashioned. Will drop the reps from 8 to 10 to 6 to 8 in another couple of weeks as the strength jumps up, otherwise, just the good old exercises.
