I'm having trouble doing the Deadlift correctly, I have checked various mags, and asked for help in the gym, but no one seems to have a clear answer. the way im doing it now, seems to bother my back and hurts my knees when i bring the weight back down. can anyone please help?

Are you currently doing it standard style or sumo style?

Also, I believe there is a deadlift video on here, either Pullinbig or Needsize posted. Check the "Training videos" sticky.

the clip helped some, thanks :) but im still confused, the method shown in the clip is standard right? that looks like i do it( im about 200lbs less though... :P) , but when you raise the bar up and down does the bar drag up and down your thighs the whole time or does it stay a little ways off the leg ( like when going over the knee) cause when i lower the weight, it has a tendancy to hit my knee cap, and it kinda hurts after 5-6 times :P

thanks again for your help guys

it sounds like your trying to lower the bar to slowly , its almost like a controlled drop , not holding the weight back as hard allows you to let the weight drift away from your body and off your knees

scroll down to the 16th frame in the training video sticky and check out some of theose deadl lift clips. i a do mine slightly differnt than needsize. i set the weight down each time so in essense i am doing singles but for sets of 4 or 5. dawg is right drop the bar after each rep. save you strenght for the pull.

I wish I had a deadlift coach. When I do them I feel like Im squatting at the bottom and my arms are just kinda hooks, then I stand up and at the top I pull my shoulders back squeeze hard and I keep my back straight and bend my knees and come back down.... Sometimes I feel like Im wasting effort. Then I figure shit if its harder maybe you'll notice in a year or so with my physique....
