Do you use any Hammer machines?

DEATH to "The Club Boys"!
I like some of them. I just discovered the lateral low row and like that. I'm kinda forced to use that now since I hurt my lower back and can't do bar rows. Its kinda the same. I use the chest movements here and there. I think my favorite hammer machine is the dip machine. I always do that last with 1-2 heavy sets and one set of about 20 reps.

I hate the leg curl hammer machine. I was excited when my gym got it, but imo its crap. It starts out with a nice resistance, but at the middle-end of the rep it just floats upwards taking the resistance off the hams. IMO its kinda like a partial rep.

What about you guys n gals. Do you like any of the hammer machines?

Does anyone know if they make a hammer squat machine?

I recently found a love for there incline chest machine. Any kind of press or other machines for that matter, I would start to use my shoulders and tris eventually. I was using my chest but not as weel as Id like to. Anway with this hammer machine I do not lockout all the way and I do not let it go down and touch the begining. Wow did I feel my chest after that.

I like their shrug machine rather a lot. The high row and low row back machines are pretty decent. I hate their chest press machines, both work at an angle that is like a shoulder injury in the making for me.

I've heard that they have a neck machine similar to the old Nautilus 4-way neck, I wish my gym had one of those.

i like the back machines , i play with the chest press machines from time to time , usually the decline because my gyms decline bench sucks but thats about all i usually use .

I love Hammer Strength Machines!!!!

My only problem is that they can only hold 5 plates per side and I think in a year or so I am going to run out of room on some of the machine. The Low Row I already do 4 plates and some change, so in a few months I will be throwing 5 plates on tha thing, then there will be no where to add plates. It would be cool if Hammer Strength had some extensions you could put on the machines so they can hold some more plates.

Count your blessings. At my gym there's a big sign warning users not to use any plates bigger than 35s on the HS machines. 45s are only allowed on the shrug machine and the shoulder press. Buncha 35s can fill up that spindle in a hurry if you're going heavy.

I've never asked why the 45s are verboten. Surely the bearings are up to the task, and I doubt the machine cares whether you have 180 pounds/side of 45s or 35s.

Just explain that to the people at the gym. I'm sure they'll understand and cave to your demands. Gym staff are some of the most understanding and accommodating people in the world. :hahano: :hahano: :hahano: :hahano: :hahano: :laugh3: :laugh4: :laugh4:

The Hammer Strength Leg Press is an interesting machine. It is a little easier than squats, but a lot tough then regular leg press.

It only holds 6 plates per side, so I need someone to stand on that. My gym has some shitty leg press machines, that why I have been using this one.

My gym owner is a moron, this is O/T BTW. He is getting a shit load of new machines, but none of them are very necessary. What he does need to buy is a new leg press and a new hack squat

I would love to try their legg press machine. I will bug the manager at my gym and tell him to get rid of that shitty leg curl machines that nobody uses. :p

I used to like the shrug machine, used the back stuff about 3 years ago, I'm mostly a freeweight guy though so other than leg ext/curls no I dont use them.

i just tried using the hammer bench press machine the other week when the normal bench bar was to hard for me to hold on to (fractured knuckle/finger)

i really liked it, gave me a good burn even thuogh i only had a light weight on it.. but i still prefer freeweight

My gym owner is a retard as well. Not only does he and his gay lover go to the polaties class every thursday, but they are like WAY to open about public affection... grosse me tf out. (no offense intended fantom) He bought a whole new set of dubells (pussy rubber hexes) but will not go any higher than 90s because the little tiny girls who he hires to work there cant pick up or put away anything past that. Not to mention he locks the music system up and blasts clay aiken and christina aguelera all day long... Nothing like trying to get psyched to clay aiken.

sooner or later i will move to the most hardcore gym in the capital district.... to join the gym you have to be able to lift a certain amount of weight, NO CELL PHONES, play they blast nothing but Metal all day. From what i hear its a huge spot for PL meets... Almost everyone there is a 300 pound juicehead monster.... what better conditions to lift are there?:D

Easto, Its funny that you mention extensions for these machines, I can get 6, 45s on each side on the Incline Hammer with the rubber stopper removed, but the others can only handle 5 per side.

So I took a solid piece of steel to fit inside the collar of the machine and it sticks out 12" with another sleeve of steel the same size as the collar, it works great, now I can get 7 per side on the Incline and 6 per side on the rest of them. It also works great on our Polaris Hack Squat since you can only get 6 per side now, and now my spotter has a place to grab now too...

yeah i really dig a lot of the hammer equipment.
I usually warm up on the incline press on chest days, and use the high row for back.
My old gym had the hammer low row, and that was awesome.
the shoulder press is the only one i don't like, it feels really awkward to me, and fucks out my shoulder.
I rate the leg press too.

whats the hammer shrug machine like?

inked1, We have three Shrug Machines all of them a bit different, one has a platform, one is on the floor and the other is Iso.

The only problem I see with them is the handles are to far apart...
