Feedback Request: Doc wants my wife to get on Testosterone Cream at 37, hold it...

Ok fellas I need some feedback. My wife went in for her annual to have her hormone levels checked. The doc came back and said she needed to be on T cream and also do a few things with her thyroid. I said hold the horses. As someone on T replacement right now I know that it is a life long commitment.

But more importantly, she is a health nut, a fitness instructor that teaches multiple classes per week as well as works out every morning at 530. She is a vegetarian and never eats out. Her energy levels are high and she has very few complaints.

Now I know low T can be caused by short term stress when testing. She has been under stress lately for this charity event she has been planning for breast cancer along with her duties as a business owner. Could this be the cause of low T?

I told her to take her blood work and have another doc look at it, because based upon what I know about the T I just don't think at her age and activity level making that commitment would be required.

Feedback?

Can you post her labs. I assume you got lh, FSH, estradiol, testerosterone, thyroid panel, dhea, etc. Are all her other hormone levels fine? Is she starting to begin menopause? I wouldn't think so, but you never know.

She's not pregnant?

Have you run the test for ovarian cancer? Costs about $40 and is hood piece of mind.

Might be worth taking DHEA instead of a test cream, especially if her dhea was low. You still have to worry about androgenic effects, but I might look at this first. You can get it over the counter.
