When I was 17 years old I knew a guy that was 23 years old. I trained with him all the time and I thought he was the biggest best guy in the world. He could bench 405lbs 4 times, and he was on lots of juice, and he weighed 220lbs and a tad taller than me. I said to myself at the age of 17 that when I am 23, I would also bench 405lbs 4 times.

Well, I am 23 now, and I can bench 405lbs for one rep at 205lbs pretty easy. I have 10 months left to gain 3 more reps on this, and I may need some training help, so thats why I made this thread.

I may take a little bit of gas if I need to, but I would rather do it naturally. Like I said, I have 10 months left.

Please, I need to get my bench press up. Im really serious about this.

Pullinbig, should I just start using the routine you gave me? Also, are negative reps really that good?

Thanks. I need serious help.

first, learn how to bench like a powerlifter, arched back, shoulder blades pulled back, and pressing of your upper abs. I would also read some powerlifting articles, the ones by Dave Tate are very good.

Ok, is there a thread by dave tate or something?

I just need to get stronger on bench press. My chest is also lagging a bit, but my tris are big.

good luck golden :)

and, yes i bellieve that the negative reps, really do make a difference. they have with me anyways. also, have you thought about training with any sort of reistance bands or chains?

Also, how about if I add a tiny bit of weight like every second week to the bar?

What exactly do you mean? That is how people lift more weight than before, by putting more weight on the bar.

If you have 1.25 pounders you are golden, if you can pull off 5 pounds a week naturally with 2.5s then you are lucky.

Dave Tate is from Westside, Google his name. You could also consider Dante's principles, I'm going to give them a shot starting today.

pm me sweet cheeks. if you'll email me a video clip od you benching i may be able to add 30 or 40lbs to your bench with out you getting any stronger. i told you this months ago.

there was a guy at the gym today that helped one time a few weeks ago addd 25lbs to his bench in 3 weeks. changed his form is all we did.

I put about 15 pounds on my bench with a weeks form practice, I'd still like to tighten it up but I dont feel that I can pull my shoulder blades in any more than I do now.

I like a rest/pause at the bottom to help do this though, if I am using a weight where I am getting 3+ reps.

But I want to get stronger. I want to bench it with normal form. I just need help bringing my normal bench press strength up 3 more reps. I guess the only way is food in my case...

what is normal bench form? you wanna bigger bench or not? you said you had a goal and here's you chance golde. free advise from Dr. PB. send me the clip. make sure you comb you hair and brush those teefies first though.

405 for 4 would be cool

flat bech the way bodybuilders do it = shoulder death. I swear i hav eno idea what the guys doing flatback benching to the neck are thinking, it might give you 5% more upper chest stimulation but at what cost, not being able to train at all in 5 years time

yeah my bench went up about 30lb in two weeks when i started powerlifting, it was all through bridging, breathing techniques, elbow position and so on. I think that everyone who wants to get big should learn the basics of powerlifting. I just thought about when you see guys benching with their ass 3 feet off the bench and they act like they are so huge, i just laugh in my head and want to go make fun of them but, then i would make more of a douche than i already am. Its just really bad when its a 45yr old man teaching a 15yr old to do that.
